Street locks are :rainbow: You will be harassed endlessly for having them on a trail rig. You would only be allowed on Fins-n-Things in Moab with them. :flipoff2:

I ran Streetlocks for about 4 years on my TJ. The cool thing was that nobody ever harrassed me about them, even though I was prepared for the worst.
To be honest, they are tough steel wheels, and the bolt heads give outstanding grip when applied to rocks and other obsitcles as you lay on your side.
see I am not kidding!

Let's be honest here. There is so much more on your rig to harass you about that the streetlocks just get ignored. :flipoff2:

Right up there with stick-on hood scoops (http://www.southernmustangparts.com/mustang-hood-scoop-hood-scoop-p-123.html).
Have you perused the KaleCoAuto (http://kalecoauto.com/) catalog? You can pick up some blinker fluid (http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=6) there. Wait...looks like they're sold out.

I know a guy that could use one of these! He has a TJ on 35's that has NEVER seen a dirt road. He even went as far as putting on an ARB front bumper with a Warn 9k lb. winch that has never even been spooled out. Its been this way so long I'd be afraid that the cable has rusted into one large blob.

You can, but you absolutely MUST make sure that the bolts are properly torqued prior to running the trail. The bolts have a tendancy to work themselves lose, which can cause a rollover, or an unsightly wheel.
CapnCrunch

...or an unsightly wheel.
This should help offset that unsightlyness (and the french fry cupholder):
Salad Shooting Spinning Rims

The urban boy racer in us wants bling. The adult racer in us wants functional. The hungry guy in us wants salad. KaleCoAuto brings you all three at once! The KaleCoAuto Salad Shooting Spinning Rims are just what Dr. Hunger ordered! Long day at work? Grab some lettuce, veggies, a chicken, toss it in the wheels, and voila! Instant salad!

Just think of how much lighter that would be. I have been wanting to Exo the K5, but she needs to lose weight. What size PVC do you suppose I would need for a heavy pig like that? I bet I could build some rock sliders out of it too.
Thanks for the idea man.

You guys have it all wrong, here.
I was definitively told by some guy in GRAND JUNCTION, while filling up with gas on my way to Moab last week, that "real beadlocks" are illegal.
He came over to my rig, asked if they were real (what, as opposed to a really good illusion?), and proceeded to tell me in a quite authoritative tone that I was "living on borrowed time".
Said he had beadlocks on his drag car, but ran them on the street, and got busted.
Those GJ cops must be tough.
This thread rocks.
Streetlocks should immediately be converted to dome head allen bolts, so that they can be replaced if they get rock rash. Torque values are critical to maintain.

I actually know a guy who used thin-walled pipe to make a "rollbar" for his Scout. Well, used to know him...he moved out of state several years back and haven't heard from him. Interesting character he was. Last I knew he was living in a converted school bus. Anyway, the pipe he used was the kind you'd see as hand-rails and such in public restrooms. It could probably be damaged by hail, it was so light-duty.

You need to give it a 25 ft pull out rope with a spring loaded retractor like one of those air hose spools... That would be pimp.

He was probably from DENVER and was also filling up. If you filled up on one of the stations on Horizon Drive you ain't gonna encounter many locals. There are places cheaper than those. :flipoff2:

I like that! Trim down the sides a little, and add some of that fat rope from Harbor Freight! The line speed would blow all the real winches away (unless the rope got caught on something in the parking lot.) Hmmm... The Poser Puller 0.95 PP coming soon to a mall near you!

Naw, I'd imagine PVC would be a tad bit lighter. You know, you could probably use some of those styrofoam tubes found at Wally-World in the swimming accessories aisle. Those would probably be even lighter. They come in nifty neon colors too! :D

I can't recall where I saw them, but someone sells a ring, kinda like a hubcap that goes on the outter face of the tire. It's got an imprint of a bogger so you can get that aggressive look even on racing slicks.

Do you know if they make those in 16.5"? I would pay the money for them just to mess with my dad. He has a 39 GMC 2.5 ton that he is in the process of making into a car hauler for his street rod (that he has not started on yet). I would love to have my sister sneak a set on at the next car show he goes to with it.
He entered it in a car show this past weekend and took third in his class (whatever that is). He was very proud, espicially since his interior consists of a milk crate with a pillow for a seat, and the paint is factory rubbed and rusted off green/black. I bet a set of spinnaz would have put him over the top.

I don't remember whether or not if he sold his Scout before he moved. If he did, it's possible someone here could have it. IIRC, he moved to California in 2002 I think.
