I've had jobs and living conditions that for years left me with somewhere around $2K free spending cash a month and still never bought a nice vehicle.

Until two months ago.

I'd never owned a vehicle newer than 86.
I'd never owned a vehicle with power windows.
I'd never owned a vehicle with working air condition.
I'd never owned a vehicle with power locks.
Of my last 3 vehicles only one had a semi working radio, with a broken Cassette player.
My most expensive vehicle was $1500.

Drive around for months in a 4 banger with 3 proper plug wires, and a 1 20 year old wire four times longer from a V8 because you're too cheap to buy a new one?

I suppose that since Mack posted in this thread, I should say that I did buy a car off him for something like $276 or there abouts :D I drove it for a summer and then took it to the scrapper.

Gubermint cheese is the base for my queso dip.
I drink PBR & Steel Reserve 211.
For almost 4 years I drove absolutely nothing but 300 dollar beaters from the LAPD auto auction. Still was cheaper than fixing any of them.

'nuff said

I bought a car once for $70 from my uncle, drove it for a year, then drove it to a you-pull-it yard and got $70 for it.

I've had vehicles that I owned in the driveway worth more than the house, when added up. And the house was in Boulder!

Guess I'm kinda bass-ackwards.

I'm cheap unless its gadgets, toys, tools or eating out. I do try to enjoy myself, I just dont spend money where I dont have to.

And I include my motorcycles as toys.

I have an expensive family to spend money on so I drive a 1991 Audi with 1 working window, no AC and body damage. One of these days it will be an S2 replica unless I dump it for a 944 (cheap [to buy], fast in a stock class, with enough headroom [~40"]).

The last new vehicle I bought was my 89 Toyota pickup. My trail rig (88) I got for $500 (but have since sunk a crap-load more money into it). And my daily driver car (93) I got for $1 and a Snickers bar (had to put a new engine in it though). They all run great (as long as I can keep the squirrels from roosting in my pickup, though).

Oh, and I meant years AGO i had that much spending money. I'm neck deep now. Different living costs(own in stead of rent with no roomate), car payment along with the regular bills everyone else has.

I'm so cheap, I bring an empty water bottle through airport security and fill it with tap. I won't pay $3 for 12 oz of water.

Half of what I own is from Craigslist. Seriously. :D

I save an average of 40% at King Soopers by buying only what's on sale and diligently using coupons.

I always have a pantry full of staples- the kids call it the 'food cave'. I load up on the stuff we always eat/use when it's on sale, and I save big bucks this way. There have been times we've had 20 boxes of cereal stocked up.

I have never had a car payment in my life until last year. I pay cash and buy what I can comfortably afford.

My wife does the same, we could go months without buying food.
