Did it today for the second time in my life.

First time I worked for an oil field service company in Farmington NM. At the yard every day you had to back the truck you were taking out and park your vehicle in its spot. Then at the end of the day do the switch again to go home. So at the end of the day I brought the 1 ton dodge bucket truck back set the park brake and left the truck running while I moved my truck. Started my truck looked in the left rearview and start backing up. Look in the right and the dodge looks closer- look in the center rear view and sure enough its coming. Put on the brakes brace for impact one onethousand two onethousand---SLAM---check myself for pain and get out. 10,500 pounds hit me so hard the diamond plate on my rear bumper imprinted permanently on the flat channel iron on the dodge like a mirror image. No damage done just angry. Turned out the last guy to drive it drove with the park brake on and didnt tell any one. The park brake had been working fine so I didnt know. Oh well.

I am building a sammurai for my wifes 4X rig and have two of them taken apart at this time. The body to one of them is sitting on our harbor frieght single axle 4'x8' trailer so we could move. I pick it up today to bring it home from my secret stash spot. Cruising down the road very slow and cross a cattle guard that makes the whole trailer bounce. The latch lets the trailer come off the ball and natural instinct I tap the brakes. The sammurai (body only) tailends me hard knocking out both headlights caving in the grill support and both front fenders. Not worth taking pics but FAWK!

Both times I was THE ONLY ONE THERE! Any takers that want to share some stupididty stories or am I the only on that dumb?

Never done something like that myself, but when I worked at the dealership one of the salesmen there decided he wanted to park one of the cars that he took a customer out for a test drive in instead of letting the lot techs do it. Ends up hitting 3 other cars getting the one car parked.

Going around the block after hooking up the driftboat to move it so it would not be ticketed for not moving in three days. Forgot to snap the link pin across the hitch. First rain dip bounced the trailer up, hit the end of the safety chains tipped up and came back and put a perfect center hit on the Wagoneer rear window.

:D

I worked at a dealership for some time too. Three sales managers were issued brand new shiny demos and they were stoked. They left together and were following each other somewhere. Vehicle #1 has to suddenly slam on his brakes, so he gets hit hard by vehicle #2. Vehicle #3 wasn't paying attention (busy lighting a cigar) so he slams into vehicle #2!

Hilarious to see these three deflated codgers slink back onto the lot with what had 5 minutes earlier been three pristine vehicles. :D

Backed my cherry '66 GTO out of the garage one Saturday when Kathy was shopping. Didn't notice her pulling into the driveway as I was backing out. Hit her brandy new Bronco II that still had paper tags. Damaged both.

Worst part was when I went to see the insurance agent about the BII (GTO didn't have full coverage.) I sat across the desk from him while he filled out the paperwork for the claim. The conversation went like this:

Him: When did this accident happen?

Me: Saturday morning.

Him: Were the police called?

Me: No. (Got a semi-strange look from him at that point.)

Him: Where did the accident happen?

Me: In our driveway.

At that point he quit writing, slowly looked up and said "Dumbass attack, huh?"

Not me, but it was my CJ-7. I had a friend repaint my Jeep, removed everything, except for the driver side seat, so he could drive it to the paint booth. Windshield frame had been removed, it was rusted, and had new one laying in the back to get painted at the same time. The hood latches had even been removed. We got on Federal, I'm following in my truck, doing about 40mph, when the hood swings up and smashes him in the head. Good thing he was wearing his dirt bike helmet, because it was cold that morning.

We still laugh about it a couple of years later. CJ-7 looks good except for a minor dent in the middle of the hood.

In a blizzard several years ago, I get a call from my dad. He was about a mile away when he hit a white-out and plowed into a drift on the side of the road. So, I load up the plow truck and go out there to pull him out.

I knew roughly where he was but as I neared the stretch of road I hit the same white-out. Visibility was bad enough that at times I couldn?t see the back of the bed. I was creeping my way down what I thought was the road when suddenly this dark mass materialized right in front of me. I hit the brakes but still hit my dad?s SUV at probably 5 mph.

I lucked out and the edge of the plow caught the tow hook on the front bumper. If I hadn?t hit that I would?ve destroyed the plastic bumper. As it was, there?s just a small crease in the plastic where the edge of the blade hit.

Ok, just visualizing that, I spit my coffee out. :D Driving past him would have been an excellent laugh.

I'm trying to visualize a point in history that a new Bronco II would be worth more then a mint '66 GTO :flipoff2:

It happened in 1983 to be exact. While GTO's were popular they weren't huge bucks at the time, even with the tri-power carb setup on it. That was a fun car to drive. :) One of many I wouldn't mind having back but wouldn't want to buy nowadays.

Many years ago (probably before my time, not sure), my dad used to park his truck at the park-n-ride, and take the bus to work. One day he got back to his truck to find someone had tried to steal the truck and broke off a key in the ignition. He called my mom and told her to bring some tools, then my mom parked the van. My dad started drilling out the ignition, and somehow it turned and the truck, still in gear from being park, lept out and smashed into the van behind it.

Moral of the story my dad crashed both of our vehicles into each other without actually driving either of them...

I backed a Kenworth across the hood of a Chevy pickup once.

I'm the one who parked the Chevy, too. :o

I bent 2 AF vehicles at once. Was in an S-10 pick-up was backing out for a redball( broke SR-71 during launch) Looked of my shoulder say the front of a metro van looked over my shoulder saw the back of a metro van. Didn't realize it was 2 metros parked nose to tail so I smashed in the front one. Wasn't a good day.

Once I backed into a little beater honda on the street and its owner was driving past us in a Tahoe. She rolled the window down and was like "You just hit my car" lol.

This is my wifes story about a friend of hers. I always screw it up so I had her send it to me. This is way up north in MN close to the Canadian border.

A few years ago a friend of mine named Jon (Grove, you remember him, Rimmer?) was heading home from closing down the bar in his 4x4 truck about 3 a.m. The road he took home from town wound around next to the edge of a small lake. He pulled up next to a small yellow hatchback car that was stuck in the snow on the side of the road. The snow was 4 feet deep on the roadsides and the car had been left there by the driver (who probably had left the bar not much earlier, judging from the depth the car was stuck). No one was around, and the car was probably going to sit there until the driver returned the next day.
Being a good natured sort-of-guy, Jon decided to do the folks a favor and tug the car out of the ditch for them. He got out his tow rope and hooked up to the front end of the car. He started to pull on the car, but it was really wedged in the snowbank... He gunned the motor of his truck and the little yellow car came out with a SNAP!
Then the little yellow car passed him and flipped completely upside down in the ditch on the *other* side of the road.
He looked around and saw no headlights, cop cars or anyone else coming down the road, so Jon picked up his towrope, got into his truck, drove home and didn't tell anyone the story for a couple years.

That's funny. I haven't hit two of my own cars at one time, but I did put two hits on our minivan in 2 minutes. I had just replaced the pads on the front brakes. I used my c-clamp to press the pistons back in the bores on the calipers so the new pads would fit. I got in a rush, the nieghbors (guys) were all standing watching me while having some brews and heckling me too. The wife came out wanting to take the van to get dinner. So I told her I would back it out since she always had a hard time getting from our detatched garage to the gate. I hop in and toss it in reverse and start cutting the wheel to avoid the gate. I notice at that momement I have NO brakes at all. So I stomp on the pedal multiple times realizing I never pumped it back up after compressing the pistons. No luck and I hit the edge of one half of the open gate with the rear bumper. Crushed the side of the gate that latches to the other half of the gate. Here's where I really lost it. I throw it in park breifly so I could inspect the damage. Then I think, I better pull forward a couple of feet so it's not sitting on the gate anymore. SO I put in Drive and guess what? Still no brakes! Now I'm heading for the garage (with my Nova inside). To avoid hitting the Nova or the garage I make a right turn and hit the pear tree dead center with the front bumper. I hit it hard enough to knock pears loose, but not hard enough to deploy the airbags. Keep in mind I had a full audience from my wife and neighbors to watch my stupidity unfold.

Damage to the van was some minor scuffs on either bumper. I was beyond pissed at myself. I pumped up the brakes right then and the pedal was back to normal. I laugh at it now, but then I chucked a brake rotor like a frisbee after it happened.

I was 16, my parents had a 1965 Karmann Ghia and a '69 Ford Van for us kids to drive. I come home in the Ghia to tell Mom that I'm goin back out to get some friends and drag Main. I run inside, tell Mom, run back out, jump into the van, rev it up, put it in reverse, and back right into the Ghia that I parked behind it 30 seconds earlier.

My Mom had her face in her hands and my brother was literally rolling on the floor laughing at me.

I never claimed to be a smart man.... :)

Well, I didn't drive both of them, but fairly funny all the same.

I was with my brother coming back from the store, we parked his VW Fox right at then end of our sidewalk.

I ran into the house to grab my work clothes, walked down the sidewalk, around his car then got into my Landcruiser that was parked perfectly perpendicular to it across the narrow lot.

I jumped in the cruiser gunned it in reverse right into the side of the Fox, and knocked it about 3 ft into the grass. Jump outta the FJ60 and my brother's laying in the grass hollering holy hell b/c he got taken out by the Fox as he was getting something out of the back seat. The car took him out at the shins and he fell inside the car.

"I don't think my legs are broken, but I think you killed the Fox" :D
