A dozen nuns and an unknown number of students were turned away from polls Tuesday in the first use of Indiana's stringent voter ID law since it was upheld last week by the U.S. Supreme Court.

The nuns, all residents of a retirement home at Saint Mary's Convent near Notre Dame University, were denied ballots by a fellow sister and poll worker because the women, in their 80s and 90s, did not have valid Indiana photo ID cards.

Where's the punchline?

At least with DaJudge's Nuns stories there is a punchline......:P

What's that saying? Oh, yeah, "Ignorance of the law is no excuse." Non-story IMO.

And yeah, needs a punchline.

Yep, DaJudge definitely wins this round of the joke-off.

You can't out-Trango Trango. :D

I sure wish someone would put in a good effort.

Mine: You want to know WHY don't I drink? Well, I went into the DMV going in with someone else's birth certificate to get a fake ID. I was nervous enough, wondering if I should go through with it. As soon as I walked in the door, 15 pissed off nuns immediately glared at me. I sort of took it as a sign.

It's a little reachy but it's all I got. A little busy today.

Was the voting precinct @ a hockey rink (http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=122651)? Do they even play hockey in Indiana?

I read the title as nuns and indians. What a letdown.

C'mon...how can anyone there *not* know that no ID= no vote there by now? The nuns would have had to know even if they're isolated, their own sister was working there.

Maybe they were trying to make a political point, but if so, all I get from it is that they didn't get to vote because they're incompetent.

Incompetent people not voting? Works for me!

I'd assumed that the new photo ID law demanded photo ID as the trump against being turned away, leaving poll sheriffs still able to not challenge those they know with certainty. Seems kind of dumb.
