Gold Camp Rd Conditions ???

A friend and I are planning on taking a our kids camping next weekend and are looking at going somewhere along Gold Camp Rd, perhaps in the area of Eagle Rock. The friend is taking up a Suzuki SUV (not sure what the thing is) that doesn't have a lot of clearance due to side steps, so would be staying close to the main road.

Anyone go up to Eagle Rock/Saran Wrap this weekend that can tell me what it looks like up that area?

We went up there last weekend (4-20-08) messing around. There was still snow in quite a few areas that didn't get direct sunlight. The little pond that you have to drive thru to get up to Eagle rock was full. Not too deep, probably ~2 1/2 ft. There was a Isuzu or something flooded out on the road that must have went too fast thru the water and was broke. Here are a bunch of unedited pictures of our trip up Gold Camp Rd. The last of the album is Eagle Rock area. That was the first time I have been up there. We went up Eagle Rock trail as far as "Poser Rock" so I don't know what it was like up further. Of course that was a week ago so I don't know what it is like now.

Just FYI last year the GF and I tried to do Gold Camp road in mid-May and it was still gated at that time. Not sure why.

Are you talking about Upper Gold Camp Rd? that's the only gate that I know of up there. Eagle rock is off Old Stage Rd which there are no gates.
