I had an outside faucet replaced today by a local plumbing company. It involved cutting a hole in my finished basement ceiling and cutting out part of a joist. The whole job took two guys about 45 minutes start to finish. I was shocked when I got the bill for 325.00. They justified the bill because it was "difficult access" Is this out of line? I have never had to hire a plumber before.

what do you mean by "cut out part of a joist"?
did they just drill a hole? cool. or cut out a chunk, not cool.
thats the part that concerns me.
if i did the job it would have been one hour labor at $75 plus the material, about $50 for a nice sill-cock plus a little copper pipe and some fittings.
i don't see a job like that going for more than $200.
