Just wondering many people crack open a cold one after work? I usually have a beer or 2 after work. Think this is a problem or normal? Heck back in the day i wouldnt think twice about it, now that im getting older i do. Or im just getting paranoid.

I don't buy beer too often, but I do have a bottle of Scotch I'll tap into maybe once or twice a week. Hell, I thought THAT was pushing it, but I have a kid and I don't want her thinking daddy's a drunk. I don't think a coupla beers a night is a big deal though.

One double scotch on the rocks each night. Used to be two but I cut back as part of my new health kick.

Beer makes me sleepy. I don't like drinking it during the week because I have little enough free time as it is. Two beers and I'm ready for bed before the sun goes down. That's no good.

I can only drink socially. I can't just drink sitting at home doing nothing. Even then it's usually a Crown-n-7, just can't do the beer thing as I get older for some reason.

I encourage hubby to have a beer after work. Then he gets sleepy and is easier to manipulate. :D

Me: Here sweetie, have a beer.

Him: Ok, just one (he's not a drinker)

20 minutes later....

Me: I spent A LOT of money today.

Him: That's Ok. I love you.

I would like a beer right now but my buddy POS OWNER is a heavy drinker and doesnt like to leave many laying around for to long......... so needless to say... Sometimes one or two beers. Sometimes one or two glasses of wine. Sometimes nothing. Goes in phases. For the last month or two, I haven't had anything at home. Other times I might have something almost every night. I guess it depends if I have something in the house.

Some shiraz sounds good about now. :drunk:

i definitely drink too much. i'm actually in the process of quitting, as it's been costing me way too much. I checked my bank account this monday morning and i blew over 200 at the bar friday night.

i won't be doing that again. over the last few months i've cut out drinking after work. Now i'm cutting drinking on the weekends. It's actually starting to feel good.

But don't get me wrong... the super sticky will always have a place in my heart.. :smokin:

I usualy have one beer when I get home from work. But when you buy it by the keg, it lasts a while. I think the shortest a keg has lasted has been 3 weeks, and the longest so far is 4 months.

bought a 6 pack of beer three months ago got 5 left

Back when I was single I would go through roughly a case of beer a month.

Since I got together with Liz my drinking has dropped off dramatically, probably for the good. I quoted Oscar's comment above because it mirrors my experience. We bought a case of Corona for a party at our house last August and we still have most of it in the garage.

Honestly I don't miss it. I'm in better shape now and not spending so much $$ of beer. And I never got into liquor, so that's not an issue either. We probably have 20 bottles of wine around the house that people have given us as gifts and I think we go through maybe one or two bottles of wine a year. :D

Due to personal reasons, I've let go of the bottle a LOT..... its still around, just nowhere near as hard as I used to be. The only bad vice I have left.....

gotta admit you falling off the wagon, or wagoneer, or what ever is a good time, course you'd be better off staying away for that hard shit, it's costly and too easy to drink way to fast and then of course it does suck when ya can't remember puking on your own tent:flipoff:

My grandmother over in Germany would drink .5L of good German beer every single night with dinner. She passed away earlier this year at 89 due to a stroke.

A coworker in her early 80's drinks a martini every night and she's a quick as a whip.

One or two beers a night is probably better for you than 1-2 cans of pop.

Definitely drink more beer than I should....Usually at least a couple of beers at night, but if I crack one open at 5:00, it'll be more than a couple.

I'd rather not calculate what it costs per month, but it's not bar tabs --- never really did much of the bar thing even during the younger years. However, I definitely go through more barley bucks during the summer months.

Every so often I"ll go through a week or two where I don't have a taste for it, and not have any....Wife will get a little worried and ask if I'm feeling OK :D

Currently on my 2nd beer

I used to drink beer every other day or so.
There's a ton of empty calories in alcohol, so I treat it as a, well, treat now.

I track every calorie I consume (early in tri-season), so I'm way cut back on beer for now.

Calories in booze really are a killer, I usually figure on 1 mile jogging per shot (directly), but rarely make that unless I'm with my dad (he's crazy). That said, while I would like to lose weight, to get to where I want requires giving up so many things I love, so I'd rather have a nice compromise on weight and enjoying sweets and libations.

im thinking bout drinkin later, i love friday, here's the normal friday flow, wakeup 4:45am get wet, go to work til 230 head to the bar park the car, go across the street to argarnot get small bottle jeagermeister and red bull or go fast, take a little walk around 13th finish the prereq, go to sanchos for happy hour ( buy one get one and free pool ) drink a couple for happy hour while curing my billiards obsession, around 5 pm take a walk toward downing st and pick up some sushi ( killer deal between 5pm-6pm 1/2 off sushi menu) usually have 3-4 rolls and couple pieces of smoke salmon. head back to the bar grab a crown and coke find a pool game and waste the night away, then either a taxi or take 15 bus home.

other times i just take a half day off work, leave the office 1030am go home pickup the pistola and go to the range for a couple hours, then back home clean up myself and pistola then off to the bar usually leave the car home and take the 15 back downtown. always a good time, hell im thinkin bout taking off a 1/2 day today.

anyone else here like to get solshed and shoot some 8ball? maybe well have to meet up sometime.

on sunday day i usually just shot some pool at the house ( i have a 9X5 table) then go to the local tourney and smash i am always in the top 5 people and usually take some cash home. but no drinking.

Probably see you at sanchos, or at arganauts. Be down there this afternoon maybe for the colfax crawl. Or just sit in the lions liar...don't know yet.

i usually walk by the lions layer every friday somtimes saturday night too, they dont have pool table in there do they?, after i leave sanchos i usualy walk to either the satire or the other bar right there, the yeager drinks at the squire or satire are pretty cheap like 5 bucks. has a lot of nice local people quite interesting.

on saturday the cheapest and best deal in town that i found is the park tavern like dollar wine well and drage from like 6pm midnight somthing crazy like that, i usually get too drunk, last time i was there i had a club sandwhich and like 7 rum and cokes tab 11.00$ so tip well and venture back home.

Beer belly for proof of that. It has caught me in the last 4 years. Now at age 44. I know if I stopped beer and added back some exercise it would be gone in no time and Id' be healthier for stopping, but I like and enjoy my beer. I think the key is to cut back as you get older and exercise is more important.
