There is a trail called Dakin (spelling?). Its more of an easy 4x4 trail, its more for four wheelers and dirt bikes and stuff (like rampart). I know its south on sante fe, but thats all i remember. Does anyone know what trail im talking about? And how to get there? Thanks everyone.

No, you have to turn off at Sedalia, then take CO 67 about 1/2 mile to the turn off for CO 105. Turn left on 105 and go 6-7 miles. You'll see the Dakan road sign on your Right. It's past Wolfensburger and Jackson Creek.

You might want to check with the FS as a week or two ago it was closed.

An alternative route, entering at the east end trailhead, is to go well south on I-25, south of Castle Rock, to the Tomah Road exit. This could be a long way out of your way, but it's a cool drive just the same. The Tomah exit is 5 miles south of the Wlofenburger Rd exit in Castle Rock.

The Tomah Road exit (southbound I-25) will allow you to, basically, do a U-turn onto the frontage road, north. After a 1/2 mile or less, the frontage road crosses Tomah road, which heads west over the railroad crossing. Take Tomah till it ends at a T at Hwy 105, known there as South Perry Park Road. Take this one north to West Dakan Road, which only goes west off 105. West Dakan turns into Dakan at some point, and takes a 90 deg turn to the north just past what appears to be a huge equestrian facility of some kind.

Follow the long and winding road up the ridge and eventually you'll get to an unmistakable, unavoidable T in the trail, left goes up and right goes down. Go left and in short order you're on the trail, which I believe is FS 563. You'll see a big gate there, closed in the winter and open in the summer.

Google 'dakan road' and you'll get a google earth placemark--scan to the east from the placemark and you can follow this route back to I-25. It will almost certainly be closed right now, but I don't know that for a fact.

There seems to be a fairly good network of trails in the area east of 67, west of 105 and north of Jackson Creek--an area having Garber Creek as the souther boundary; roughly at 39 deg 22 m N, and 105 deg 3 m W. Anyone know what these trails look like?

there are several threads about it. but i have heard rumors they might be closing it down the sedalia way b/c of all the 4x4 traffic exploring on other peoples driveways to find the trail:shrug: why dont they just put up signs??
anyone heard anything else?
