So I really dont know anyone on this forum. Am I the only one here that will take anything for free if is worth something? Or buy almost anything if i know it can get more for it?
Ill start....
A client GAVE me a 1973 Saab Sonett for FREE, it had a Ford V4, yes a Ford V4 and an entire fiberglass body. Pretty sweet. Sold it on e-bay for 3k
And for 500 bucks I bought the RV that is currently sitting next to my garage. Worth ide say 3-4K.
Whats your strory?

I think most anyone on the board likes to turn a profit if they can, automobiles especially for me.

We do it all the time. We don't scheister people out of their asking price, but if their asking price is FAR below the item's worth, it's their loss for not doing their homework. If they find out later they could've made more money on said item, I call that a lesson learned. Research value before you sell. Would we do this to an elderly person who wasn't the wiser to make sure they weren't getting cheated? No. But if the person is perfectly healthy with good fingers to type and excellent eyeballs to read, there ya go.

I flip constantly. Buy mechanics specials for 500 bucks, 200-300 dollars to get it running, flip it for 2-3k.

I have a couple stories for ya, i just picked up my project about half a year ago from a local guy in brighton about 20 miles from me. I had seen this rig on the craigs list a couple times and i really like the look of it. here it is
http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z36/Osirus82/DCP_1950.jpg
went up talked to guy he wanted 650.00 for it said his brother gave it to him cause he owed some money and had to many projects to work on. He said he had 2 more people that wanted to look at it, one guy that wanted to put it infront of his 4x4 shop sorta for advertisment, and some other guy that wanted to part it out, I told him id give him 500 cash and another hundred when i picked it up. Sold i have only found 3 other jeeps that look like this, on is on the craigs right now for 6000. the other was on ebay sold for 17900.00
the other best deal i got was from my friend at work, he wanted to sell his browning HP nickle plated made in belgium, at first he was gonna sell it for 250.00 but after doing some research he found out how much it was worth was 360.00 low 520.00 high price, he felt bad for telling me 250.00 at first but would be willing to sell it for the low 360.00, i got it, it is immaculate, if you know the old school single action HIGH POWERS you know its a great deal.

With certain things I might. But not everything. The majority of the time I won't even take something if someone paid me too. I HATE having too much crap and being cluttered.

I?ve never felt right about selling something that is given to me. If I need to get rid of it I?ll give it away to the next person. I?ve been given a few scouts that I could?ve sold but I passed two of them on to other owners for free.
Didn?t someone get in trouble for that a few years ago? Something about a member giving an axle to another member and then that guy turned around and posted it for sale on the board for a fairly high price.

I always screw up the flips and dont make money. Some one I know needs a ride or I end up keeping it. I take everything for free and pay a little money for a lot of crap too.

I tried to convince my dad to try to make more monay on my '85 cherokee before he sold it.
Had a crap 4 cylinder but the body/paint and interior were impeccable. If I wasn't trying to pay for school I would have kept it in a heartbeat.

Well the RV flip im working on now went from an emissions issue to the last shop that rebuild the carb did it wrong and caused it to run WAY TOO rich. There were a few bent parts. Which made for fowled plugs. Now she purrs like a kitten. Depending on what it is ill just pass it on to someone i know who needs it for free. But with the price of diesel something has to fill up that tank.

I am with you. Have dont this a lot. Especially buying and selling cars. When I lived in AK, I bought a Mustang II that a buddy was going to trade into the dealer. They offered him $100, so I offered $150. Turned it around for 500. then bought it back a year later for 300 with a leaking heater core, replaced that and sold it again for 500. I bought and sold that thing 6 times. Also bought a subby waggon up there for a dollar. fixed it and sold it a couple of times. had a lady give me an escort that would not run. Ran it in several ice derbys and then sold it for scrap.

I bought a 91 fzr600 (street bike) for $300, I am about to sell it for (I hope) ~$1k
I had to put some money into it to make it street legal ($150) so it's well worth it in my eyes...
bought a motorcycle faring on ebay for $20 and will hopefully sell it for like $70
flipping is a lot of work, but can be profitable if done correctly
