I am wondering if there is a trail near Littleton/Centennial that we can go to that's not too far.
What we have is a CJ5 with a lift and a winch and an 02 ranger with a small lift and nothing special.
Looking for a trail that is close that is not too hard but is a lot of fun and hopefully not too covered in snow. A little is not of big concern, mainly close. The guy driving the Ranger is not timid by any means.
Haven't driven the CJ on the highway yet, and don't really want to go too far on one, so I figured I would ask you guys as you have better knowledge than me :D
Thanks !!

The closest/easiest trail that is open is Slaughterhouse. . .but, with the snow and ice that is still present it would be a little tough for the Ranger. Check the Trip Report section for a recent write up.

Left Hand Canyon (not Carnage). Lot's of trails up there and you COULD drive all the way up there on city streets.

Decided to put the jeep to the highway test, and we went all the way up to slaughter house to find out that it is closed. I was just up there yesterday (Sunday April 20th) and the gate was shut & locked with a sign that said all trails in that area are closed due to wet conditions.
Sucked too because we put together a couple of rigs and got all the way out there to find this out. I swear I saw a posting from like 14 days ago where someone went up there for a recovery so I know it was open not too long ago which is why we tried....bumper but at least I got to test the CJ, and she did pretty good. Kind of chilly up there with only a bikini top and the wind, but a nice drive and I stayed at 55-60 the whole way up there (when legal of course :D )
Left hand though huh? How do I get there?
Thanks

Take N Foothills hwy north out of boulder... N Foothills hwy is what 28th st in boulder turns into. Take it north a little over 2 miles until you reach lefthand canyon dr. there is a resterante on the left called the Greenbriar inn ?spelling?. Follow lefhand canyon dr for about 2-3 miles and you will see a small parking lot on your right. That parking lot is for buckingham park. Keep following lefthand canyon dr a few more turns and the trail entrance will be on your right hand side. There will most likely be trailers and rigs parked on the side of the road. Just please make sure and stay the trail. This is a fun, not to far place to go wheel, but there has been a lot of problems with people minding the trail boundaries. Also bring a trash bag and stop to pick up what other A$$ holes leave. This trail will soon close if we don?t try and clean it up.

Thank you for the directions.
Believe me when I say I believe extremely in 'Tread Lightly', and pack it in pack it out. I always bring a couple extra bags to help keep trails clean when I use them. I hate picking up other peoples trash, but I always do. If I see someone being an a$$ I have no problem brining it to their attention.
I mean, lets wheel, but lets do our part to keep those areas clean so we can come back!
Thanks again
