After Moab. :)

No fees. There are a couple of RV parks in town, and the trails are right outside town. Dunno if you can camp out there, but Clint will know.

You can dry camp out by the park just about anywhere. There are campgrounds, and I just got done wiring the new motel up there. It will have 50 rooms and they are adding another 24 to it this summer.

Sprinklers are fixed and Saturday is the server upgrade. Chris and I are thinking about going fishing Sunday... know any good places? ;)

We were thinking NP... wanna go?

Wheelin next weekend... and Zach is ready.

Saturday is another track meet, may work for the afternoon though. I may just be able to join you next weekend (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). Are you thinking Billings or 21 and which day?

River is gaining color daily, I will keep an eye on it.

Depends on how our rigs are after a week in Moab. Thinking of running Upper Helldorado on Thursday, and will probably run Pritchett as well. Might even check out Coyote.

He'll just chew thru it...

You need to lighten up... it's just blood... it'll heal. He's pretty tough little dude. Knocks our 90 lb German Shepard down all the time...

John, IF that arrangement works out... I'm available either day or both days. Maybe Billings one day and 21 Rd on Sunday... life is good.

Yeah but in Rangely he would have bounced 5 or 6 times before he stopped :D

Helmet?

Bubblewrap?

I know the Bronco Boy's are thinking about Billings Sunday if the rigs are fit and they have any energy left. I have to do the kennel each day so let's play it by ear, but I definitely would be in for at least one day.

You can tie him to Caesar, my choc lab.... at least he will come when you call him. Hey... it worked at Billings last fall.

Back to the subject; since you guys know the area:

What is the highway like between Rifle and Meeker (Hwy 13/ 789) And between Meeker and Rifle (Hwy 64). Passes, two-lane, steep, slow, etc?

Lets see. From Rifle to Meeker its just your standard highway, lots of up and down, one decent climb outside of rifle. Lots of deer and animals on the road.

Im gonna assume you meant meeker to rangely on hwy 64 :). Same thing, standard road, one climb call Rio Blanco Hill which can get nasty depending on the weather. Road follows the river so again, lots of animals.

all 2 lane if i remember correctly and just gotta watch the trucks out here they are a little nutsoid. when ya planning on going ?

Steve
April 15th, 2008, 10:37 AM
Depending on where you're coming from you can also take I-70 to just west of 'Junction and then take Hwy 139 to Rangely. It's over Douglas Pass but is good road with 65 mph speed limit most of the way.

If youre gonna take the 13 to 64 route... you can take Hwy 5(Piceance Creek Rd) and cut Meeker out of the trip. It has lots of animals too, and a 50mph speed limit. Ill give ya a big ol' :flipoff2: as you drive by.

isn't that the road that cuts off to the left right in front of rio blanco store ?

nice road twisty turny and watch for the d$@# trucks they like to haul a$$ through that road and cut the corners wide.

clemsonkrawler

Thats the road. Speeding has been cut down a lot recently by heavy patrolling by the Rio Blanco Sherrifs dept. and weight restrictions.

Seriously watch the traffic on 13 and 64 with the oil and gas work going on use is up a lot in the last 3 years. Piceance Road (Hwy 5) is seeing 1300 vehicles a day. A lot of them are in a very big hurry! Lots of TX, OK, and LA plates. Maybe even a few from New Jersey or SC!

Friday afternoons are like a scene from Road Warrior!

This week they have also started their yearly work on the part of the road that sinks two feet each winter just south of the top of Rio Blanco Hill and there have been 20-40 minute construction delays.

Let's set a date and get something going in the Staging Area!

Travel schedule, not me. :P

I'm a key witness in a huge lawsuit our company is involved in. We were hoping it would settle before trial. That hasn't happened and the trial is scheduled for two weeks in May. Lawyers want to meet for a week before that to "prepare." I DO NOT want to spend 2 or 3 weeks in Knoxville, TN testifying and sitting through a trial. :(

Ouch! Must be nice to have stealth mode and appear off when you are actually on! I am close and can make it to Rangely in an hour. I may actually have a rig that is somewhat Rangely worthy by next weekend!

I am easy but not cheap, any weekend works for me!
