I might just do that. The guy that wants to go riding on Monday lives in Canon City...so that would be fun. Can a sport quad go where you are riding in Penrose?

If a Sport quad can go, drop me a line...439-3958 after 6:30 PM. I forgot my Cell at home today.

We had a pretty good day of riding. We had the following:

XR650, KTM 525, YZ450F and a YFZ450.

We all met up around 9:30 or so. Did a little bs'n waiting for my friend on the YFZ. Took off on some of the new trails in Penrose. The trails were very rocky/loose..but manageable. The men on the KTM, XR and YFZ had no issues.

Yes, it was me again. I thought the bike was geared down enough and was jetted right..nope. The trails were very tight and windy. I usually ride with my hair on fire...which makes sense on a MX bike. Today I got schooled on very tight turns that are off camber, going up steep grades with loose rocks the size of a footballs. Every time I came into a corner, my bike would stall. The fully closed to 1/4 of the throttle position was terrible. If I cracked the throttle at even a little speed...stall. So this got old really quick in hurry clutching 4 times in every corner. So I called it a day. I would rather come back another day with a better running bike then crash and get hurt.

So when I got home from Canon City...the bike came apart. I looked at the plug again...lean (last week I fouled 3 plugs). I was trying to lean out the main, needle jet to compensate for the non existing bottom end. So I took out the book and dumped everything that the dealer told me and started over. I set the carb up as follows:
150 main (was 148, factory was 160)
44 pilot (was 48, factory was 45)
Needle on P3. (was on 2, factory is 4)

Went for a little test ride. Now when I crack the throttle quickly it doesn't "breath hard" or die. Now I have to hit the rear brake and bring the front down. So it was most likely the pilot jetting. I am going riding tomorrow as well and the friend that is going along has a 42 pilot for me to try as well. So if I do not have a bottom end again...time to change out pilots and check the plug again.
Other than that, on the top end...bike is a rocket.

Thanks again for inviting us to come along in Penrose. We will definitely have hit Woodland Park and Divide this summer and do a little camping like we all discussed....good times.

Had a great time with you guys!! Not more than 5min. after you guys headed out..trails got really tight, lots of 2' ledges... noghting was a one shot deal!! Yeh, nothing like putting 277lbs. right where you don't want it. Man the trails got "REALLY" good. We rode till about 2:30, went into town had lunch, then traded the bikes in for quads.. We haded up Tanner till we hit snow, which was at the top then some.. so 19.6 miles on dirtbikes, and 15 miles on quads wow!! What a great day!! When we going back??
