...live in a small town if you miss the sound of the Schoolbell ringing at the end of the school day and after a couple years of this you talk the maintenance guy (who doesn't like the bell) into letting you climb ladders up to attach a new rope to it so that your daughter can get a chance to ring it before moving on to middle school. :) Now I am looking forward to 4:00 PM today to hear the bell officially toll the end of the school day. I did get to test ring it too.

When I was a kid we went to school out in a little country school, two rooms and a gym in the basement, in the boonies outside of Laramie. We got rung back to class with a hand bell. And there were 12 of us.
Nowadays around here they don't even have bells, just those stupid tones they pipe through the PA system. Makes me sad because my daughter will probably never hear a bell in school. A real bell.

That is one of the first things I noticed at my kids school, no bell, just a tone that you can barely hear.

We had bells in HS, but they were just the wall mounted types. Definatly no hand driven bells.

Elementary school had the annoying tones.

My HS can't decide what they want to play through the PA system for bells. Coz y'know there's definitely nothing more important to spend their time on. For a while it sounded like someone used a cell phone to play the sound of a real bell onto the PA system. Yeah, I can't wait for college.

My 5th grade daughter got to pull the rope I tied on and ring the bell in the belfry on the roof at the start and end of school today. I am satisfied.
