I was at Beale when the first women were coming on board. The true first one washed out on her second flight. She could not land the plane. But that is not that uncommon. The pilots with 3 differnt instructor pilots go up in the trainers with them to show them the ropes of landing a tail dragger with a 105 foot wing span. I was told by many pilots that it is not something you can teach either you can land it or you can't. Even with the pogos in she drug the inborad flap by landing on the wing tip. The second Pilot "Chuck" Mendoza was one hell of a pilot. SHe was one of the best aviators I ever knew. They have to wear diapers while flying the thing.
