Do you believe that it is safe to have the doors off with a 2-year old in the front seat (in an appropriate car-seat obviously).

Have you done it?

Do you do it?

Have you heard of any incidents which make you not want to do it?

I dont do it personally it was not until both kids were 7 that I allow them to sit upfront with doors off.

I have a 8,5,2 year olds. I barely trust my 8 year old in the passenger seat with the door on and locked. No way would I ever put my 2 yr old up there with the doors off. Even when buckled in securely to her seat and wrapped up in two layers of duct I've seen her manager to free her self enough to get the two week old cheeto off the floor. I wouldn't try it, but of course, I kinda like my kids.

it helps if there's no cheetos on the floor.....

my 5 year old and 2 year old ride in back, with or without windows, i usually only have one of them in the front if it's just me and one of them, upper doors off but still lowers on till i get tube doors. just makes me leery. I know it's perfectly safe just does not feel right.

i've had myu kids up front before without upper doors, especially when we lived in Hawaii and never had them on.... just no doors seems a bit much, or not enough, depending how you look at it.

I have a 74 CJ5 that hasn't had doors for about 5 years now & doesn't have a back seat. My nephew who is now 8.5 would ride up there since was about 4 or so. Not very often & usually just short trips to the store etc until he was 6 or 7, then longer trips. When he was almost 7 he rode from Ft collins up to the poudre canyon there. My other sister will let me drive her 2 yr old daughter up & down the block in her carseat, but thats it, literally 6 houses down & 6 houses back & that only once like 2 weeks ago. My nephew also has been riding behind me on my motorcycle for past 2.5 years, ever since he could reach the pegs. Think the longest ride he has gone on has only been like 8 or 10 miles & not on the highway. DOn't worry he has his own helmet etc that he wears & has had his own dirtbike since he was 3. (I spoil my nephews & Niece).

Forgot to mention I do have a 3 point harness in the front seats not just lap belts so if they are in a car seat the seat is secured & they are usually a little tight in the seat.

Saw the thread title and was thinking this was about jeans.

....same answer would apply though: Wouldn't consider it a good idea.

My Dress pants are wrangler Jeans. Wedding or funeral brand new black wranglers, with a crease down the front & back of leg, nice pressed shirt (sometimes white sometimes not), shine boots, maybe wear hat & vest & good to go. Went to prom one year, rented tux & bought new black jeans. Wore the shirt vest & jacket & hat with jeans & shined boots. It helped I went with a cowgirl. If I can find a women that will marry me in my jeans consider it done. In all reality though I might wear dress pants somewhere but don't have any dress shoes or socks for that matter.

wouldnt do it. Kids need as much protection as possible. Not just to keep them in but to keep debris from the road out.

Yea, x2 on this. I've had a few rocks, bugs, etc. bounce up into the cab and hit me, I'd hate to have this happen to a youngin.
