Bunce School Conditions?

Anyone know what Bunce School is looking like? I'm looking to do a trip up there on the 20th. I know the gate won't be open, and making it to the gate might be a long shot anyway, but if it has a least a little to work with, thats cool.

a group i went with made it to the locked gate two weeks ago, some pretty high drifts, and a lot of winching. was a BLAST!! go ahead and give it a shot.

well i have no winch, and I don't believe anyone else in my group will have one either. But thats ok, diggin snow has kept me in shape for the past 4 years :-)

I've been up there a couple times since January. I don't have a winch, but I retain airing down and chaining up as my recovery options, and haven't needed either. I got quite a way up the Ironclads trail in Early Feb.
If you've got a second vehicle for help, you can really go for it.

According to the forest ranger, MaryBeth, Bunce is open until you reach the gate at the beginning of the switchbacks. I will be up there sometime Saturday.

open is one thing, but passable is another. if you don't have a winch maybe bring enough stuff to use a hi-lift for recovery. it's funny snow up there, you'll be driving along just fine and the snow will suck you into the ditch and you're stuck, it's fun stuff

Yea, i've been up there multiple times, usually around this time of year so i know how the snow can be. I just haven't been aware of how much snoow they got in the area this winter, so i wanted to check

Ran it today, will run it tomorrow. Roads are a mix of snow, mud, and dirt. The roads with snow are well-rutted. I was on my way to Ironclads but got a little scared when I couldn't get the jeep into 4L.
