i went last year with some friends 4th july and will be going again this year. everyone had quads and dirt bikes and we camped on the water. maybe only 6 boats on the whole thing. there is about a 1000ft high dirt hill called sand mountain that people would go up and mess around on. we also had boats and jetskis so we were pretty entertained. ill be taking my jeep this year and do more exploring.

Could you ATV from your camp site around the lake? That would be freaking awesome. And you can camp right on the lake?

Better take some extra gas, it's a biiiiiiiig lake. You would also have to make three river crossings. There is a lot of private property near it. It's mostly sand around the lake. I have only boated there. Sand mountain is near the marina, which has some pay camping sites. I don't know much about the state park, which is closer to the dam.

yeah we were right on the water in the sand at the base of the sand mountain and didnt have to pay anything. i think there was a fee to get a boat in the water and a fee to use the boat ramp to get on the beach but it wasnt much. we were there for a week and didnt get hassled and the rangers drove and boated by a couple times. and this was on a "major holiday weekend" lol
