Does anyone know when the Tarantula's start crawling down around Pueblo and Canon City? Looking for a female since my other one died back in the fall. Had her for 7 years. Thanks

Wow I've never seen a tarantula up here 'round Denver. Too cold? Thank god it's also too dry and/or cold for the critters I really hate: mosquitos (although they're around occasionally), roaches, termites, fleas and so on. Houston was infested with all those things, which is why I hate Houston.
I have, however, seen a very nice-sized nursery or wolf spider out in my yard. Thought it might have been a T. but on closer inspection it wasn't.
Tarantulas, though, now those are cool from a distance - as in I don't ever want to see one anywhere near my yard. Sorry, I'm higher on the food chain so I make the rules for my yard. :D

I notice them most often in August. I am told that is their mating season? There are some big-ass ones in my neighborhood. (Pueblo West)

Yeah they mate and migrate in August and September, but I know they are active all summer, just harder to find i suppose. I've notice smaller spiders out crawling already so was just hoping to get a "T". You can pick 'em up with your bare hands but I usually use a styrofoam coffee cup cause if they bite its like a bee sting, so not so bad, just annoying.
I will offer a reward for a female or whereabouts thereof!
