[soapbox]

As the shoe size gets bigger, everything needs to get bigger with it. I am so tired of shoes that don't come high enough on the heel, too narrow, not enough lace holes, etc. Graphics/designs that look good on a size 7 or 8 look rediculous on a size 13. I always have to settle for some poor fit characteristic to be able to have a shoe I can get my foot into. I have enough problems with my feet/ankles/knees that I don't need crappily built shoes to select from.

I know I am not the only one out there that wears a 13. Why am I forced to shop in the Frankenstein shoes from the 70's area of the shoe store and never find one that fits right?

All you tiny footed fellas with smarty quips can go screw. You have no idea how sucky it is to never have shoes that fit right.

[\soapbox]

BTW, 13E or EE.

When I was in 5th grade I wore a size 11, now it's 13-14 depending on the shoe, I know your pain.

I'm married to Yuccaman who wears a size 14 and 15. It's a pain to just find simple tennis shoes that don't look like clown shoes.

I've found him nice Skechers sneakers in size 14 at Nordstrom Rack near Park Meadows mall in Lone Tree. Because it's the Nordstrom Rack store (which is their sale stuff, not the regular Nordstrom at the mall) they have pretty good prices too. I've seen lots of dress shoes and hiking boots there too, you just have to be willing to check back every month or so.

If you're not scared to try mail order for shoes, here are some links:

My last 3 pairs of work shoes have all come from Nordstrom Rack!

Even more fun is rental bowling shoes. I look like side show bob in a bright set of those. I'm 27 and my feet still arent done changing I guess. Used to wear long narrow shoes. Now I need long tripple wides in the 13 flavor, steel toes seem to wiegh 10 pounds each. Few and far between selection for sneekers. I'm tall as well so finding shirts long enough in the one size fits all world pisses me off too. XXL's are long enough but are so big around I feel like a church bell.

I'm not a 13, but 12 AA. I use to get shoes from New Balance, but they went down hill when they started making them in China. They just don't fit anymore. Last set of shoes I got are Rockports, still not the fit but better the anyothers I could find.

Oh, I have custom made bowling shoes, it was the only way to get any that fit. The cost was worth it, life time replacement or repair if they even wear out.

I want big feet when I grow up. :(

Then, I won't have to carry snow shoes. :D

Sorry Sasquatch's, size 8 1/2 here.

Thats why I wear 14s. Some 13s fit but not many. And unfortunately for me weight has more to do with needing snowshoes than shoesize! Most new Basketball shoes and designer athletic shoes look like retarded clown shoes to me anyway. Dork-Mart quit carrying most size 14s so that made it even worse.

Try finding 9.5 EEE shoes. I was walking around barefoot at my house the other day. My brother was over and got a look at my feet "what *^&% happened to your feet?". Shoes I wear always tear up my feet because they are not wide enough. I also almost always wear boots because they are the widest.

Eastbay (http://www.eastbay.com/catalog/advancedSearch.cfm?supercat=shoes&prod_tp=Shoes&gender_age=Men%27s&size=17.0&Go.x=13&Go.y=15) seems to have quite a few choices in size 17.

Zappos (http://www.zappos.com/n/es/d/31250/size/9/width/12/page/1.html) has a few choices in 9 EEEEE (Since 4E are not wide enough).

My sister gave up and just started buying men's shoes except for dressy shoes. I think she wears an 11 or so in men's.

I am only a size 12. Have you looked at Doc Martins? I have not had any problems with mine, once they are broken in. I wear a wide shoe and they fit pretty good. I am not too gentle on shoes either and I have had the same pair for the last 3 years. I just keep some stuff around to clean them up every once and a while.

I am real hesitant to buy shoes off the internet. I guess too many years of trying on shoes that are supposedly the right size only to find they are too narrow or the heel is too low and rubs blisters in 20 paces.

I tend to wear hikers most of the time as they give enough support and have a higher back. Fortunately, my job allows it. Dress shoes are nearly impossible to locate. I did recently find a pair of sketcher running shoes Sz14wide that fit pretty good. Colors suck, oh well.

Another issue with big shoes, they use the same foam support in all the sizes. A foam density that works well to support a 150 to 180 lb dude lasts about 10 minutes for someone at 250. My shoes crush down so fast that I might as well be wearing moccosins.

It doesn't help that my feet are flatter than a duck's and I have orthopedic supports to avoid chronic twisted ankles. I really need to get my feet operated on and rebuilt, but being on crutches for 4 to 6 months for each foot doesn't seem very interesting.

I guess too many years of trying on shoes that are supposedly the right size only to find they are too narrow or the heel is too low and rubs blisters in 20 paces. That's my problem too. As BatGirl said, I wear a 14 or 15, depending on the manufacturer. Since it's so hit and miss to find something that fits, internet ordering ain't gonna happen with me.

Uncle Sam is the only place I have never had a problem getting big footwear; when I slashed a pair of steeltoes open during Desert Storm and had to go pick up another pair. I took a couple newbies with me to get their pixie feet shod, but was the only one to walk away with new boots.

Since we're griping about manufacturers - who is the tard that decided that as waistlines get bigger, the inseam has to get shorter? I need at least a 34" inseam, but once you hit 36" waist, they start shortening the inseams...

Fawk it...at least I pay the same for my big clown shoes as you pixie-footed folks do! :lmao:

Fawk ain't that the truth. Big & Tall stores most of the time are Big OR Tall stores, you can't be both!

sooo true... where's the stores for the big both ways people ???I'm thinking about heading to Englewood later this week to see about "the surplus store" selection. In the past they've had quite a variety. Of course, in the past I was a wee bit smaller. They've got boots in my size as well, so maybe I'll kill two birds with that one stone. I'm sure Kaufman's probably has pants that would fit, but they charge ya for it...

There's good and bad about work relaxing the dress code - us mushrooms aren't seen by the public so we can now wear jeans, but of course I have a very limited selection of jeans after years of having to wear Docker-type pants to work.

Rockport for daily work shoes - not perfect, but if you're mostly at a desk, at least they don't hold your feet in an uncomfortable shape all day.
For walking far, the only solution I've ever found is Scarpa. Fscking expensive, but I spent months searching, and they're the only ones I've found that feel ok without having to go one size up and put up with floppy fit.

Probably the same guy who decided there is no need for a 28/34.
