So what is the deal at Thunder Valley? Can you just show up and pay a daily fee to ride? Are there age restrictions, equipment requirements? I have a ten year old itching to go somewhere and there is too much snow in the hills. I tried to email them and it bounced back. Telephone goes unanswered.

They make you get a membership for the year I think it was $40. and then you have to pay $10 each time you go ride. Any age can ride. As long as you wear a Helmet and good boots they should let you ride. They will have all the info at the front check in.

Unless they changed it, I went there 2 or 3 years ago and didn't have to buy a membership. It's possible I paid more not having it, but I know it wasn't required. I believe the City of Lakewood owns it or is somehow involved, so that may be why no membership is required. The Watkins track, out east, does require yearly membership.

for a 10 year old I wouldnt go to thunder valley. try watkins or berthoud tracks. thunder valley is mostly for bike bikes. I take my kids there and they have been riding since they were 4yrs and it gets way scary when a 450cc lands 5" from them. try watkins out passed aurora. its has 3 tracks,is like $10 and is more kid friendly , so is berthoud way up on I25 put it costs more.

A friend of mine owns Thunder Valley, Not City of Lakewood.
If you take your kid there, go hang out at the south side and avoid the track so someone on a 450cc does not land 5" from them.

I know the City of Lakewood has something to do with it though, what's their role? When I went there it had either some signage to that effect, or the paperwork you filled out had Lakewood letterhead.

Well put storm911. I hate to say it, but when I used to ride Aztec Raceway all the time, there were parents that would love to watch their kids out on the south or north track on there pw-50's. They are really hard to see in the doubles or a step-up...and they ride the center of the track, not on the side. Then you get parents up all in your face poking you in the chest. They have no clue.

He got the city of Lakewood to help with subsidies and therefore the people that use it, sign a release saying you won't sue the city.
He has put a ton of money into it the past few years, including hiring a professional track designer, irrigation system, etc. The place is a little to small in my opinion. But, it is very close.
