If you have read some of my post lately...I traded the quad in for a motorcycle. I did like the quads...I just perfer the motorcycle.
So what got me out of MX'n was a blown out knee at Aztec Raceway in 02' (so it has been a while since I have riden a race bike). So, if you ride with knee braces, what do you use?
I have been looking at the Pod MX braces. Not too bad at 300.00 each. My knee surgery and the change in lifestyle cost me way more than that. So if anyone has or used them in the past, please post up your reviews. Thanks.
PS..is there any good motorcycle forums?

These are my 2 CTI braces. I really like the fit and after 8 surgeries, 2 of them being ACL repairs I don't hit the slopes or the trails on a motorcycle without them.
They're custom made me and insurance picked up 80% so it wasn't that bad $$$ but I really think it was an investment well worth it. They feel so good I barely know they're on.
I need to send the red one in for a tune up and get the paint matched to the flame job on my newer one.

I was looking at those as well. I called my Ortho Doc. today to see if he can write me a perscription. Then I have to get pre-approved by insurance.
Right now I have one Don-Joy brace for my right knee. This weekend was the first time on a MX bike since 02, so it was fun....it was real....just not real fun. LOL:beer: I was very cautious to put my leg out in corners, and I payed the price. That was the most pain I ever experience in my life when I exploded my knee at the race track.
So who did you go to for the fit? Thanks for the help.

I sold the Raptor Mark. Ginny really likes the 450....so do I. I did get the YZ450F. The last 4 stroke I rode was Ginny's 02 YZ 250F. There were a couple of guys at Aztec that let me ride their CRF 450's as well. I just can't believe the useable power band on these bikes. 2 strokes are great for tight tracks for sure...but I can't say I would go back.:D

Chris,
I went to a local place up here at the hospital when I had my last ACL tear repaired. They put on a cast to do the mold of my knee so it was a great fit.
There must be a place locally for you either through your doctor or through this website. It was innovative sports when I last looked but its been changed now. They can direct you to someone locally for you, but CTI so well known that your doctors recommended therapist can get it for you and in the colors and paint patterns you want

I have an EBI Sports medicine brace I think it is neoprene. Seems to hold my knee in place pretty good. I have a crf 230, but haven't been able to ride since my knee injury, Dr.'s orders. But I will probably wear when I am able to ride. I got it at some prosthetics place in pueblo

Asterisk cells. I've had them for about 7 years. Two ACL reconstructions.

I was looking at the Asterisk Cells as well. Looks like you have got some use out of them...
I have tried to contact my insurance company to see about them helping me pay for them...that is a joke. I am sure it will be 600.00 well spent.

AFAIK, insurance won't cover anything that isn't prescription, and Cells are off the shelf. Some insurance companies will cover the CTI or Donjoy prescription braces, but if they only cover 50% of a $1200 pair of braces ...
Do some reading on TT from Dr Mark. He's an orthopedic surgeon who rides, and he is very against braces. In some cases they can cause a greater injury than they prevent. Some docs are for them, some are against; you'll have to read what they all say and make your own decision.
I wear mine, but I do see how there could be danger.
BTW I think if you have your insurance handbook you can look up the coverage they offer for "durable medical equipment." I think a brace would fall under DME like a cpap or diabetic equipment would.
