You guys really need to see what the Forest Service is proposing. Keep in mind this was in an article about squatters in the National Forests.

Here is the link:
http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36%257E53%257E2272748,00.html?search=filter

Here is what the forest service wants to do to elliminate squatters:

"Squatters who set up illegal campsites in national forests have become such a problem that Forest Service officials are considering limiting the use of forests near urban areas.

Among the possible changes: restrictions on camping, target shooting and off-road-vehicle use in places within a two-hour drive of urban areas."

"Forest Service officials say the plan is aimed at forests within a two-hour drive of an urban area, including the South Platte district of the Pike-San Isabel National Forest, the Boulder district of the Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest and parts of the White River National Forest along the Interstate 70 corridor.

"It's a very specific plan: The primary point is to provide for the more urbanized types of recreation that the public wants," Valenzuela said."

Just think, closing down the national forest to off-road vehicle use, camping, and target shooting are the ways to make the mountains beter for "urbanized recreation".

Like I have said many times, blame different groups for all the ills and they will split us up so that the mountains are compatible for "urbanized recreation." Go ahead, balme the shooters, balme the wheelers, balme any little group you want for how left hand is. Simple fact of the matter is that they want to close EVERYTHING to EVERYBODY who wants to do something other than "urbanized recreation". People will get their wish. They were out to blame the shooters. They were out to blame the wheelers. Well, we all will be leaving....

That really sucks because I prefer the remote camping as opposed to camping around a bunch of people!

What the hell is "urbanized recreation"? Urban, meaning related to the city, so wouldn't activities like shooting, and wheeling be considered "urbanized"? I'm confused, they want to stop shooting, camping, wheeling, in order to better provide this urbanized recreation? Wouldn't urbanized recreation be the the very things they want to stop?

Do you know if the FS is giving anyone the chance to let their voices be heared? I am about fed up with the FS at this time, I try to call them to find out info on a certrain trail and they have no idea what I am talking about, I am in the process of trying to get a trail re-opened and no one knows the trail I am talking about yet again and they refuse to find any info on that area, and all they do is complain about how they don't get enough funding and that they are worked too hard, but this weekend I past two forest service vehicles that one was a brand new 2004 Dodge Durango, and the other was a 2004 dodge ram. Humm makes you wonder about the funding that could be put towards Forest restoration. Also, not to mention I have never seen a FS employee overworking themselves to make the Forest a better place.

Thanks for the article, it's great to know how great our government really is and how intelligent/lazy they really are.
