I have been running this program for a long time for free. Now I am being told the license has expired and they are charging a fee for it. I really like it but am wondering if there are any comparable, trustworthy free programs out there. Or should I just shut up and pony up the $$$? It's $35 for the anti-virus, anti-spyware package or $55 for the full suite w/firewall and anti-spam.

I don?t know why it is saying that. AVG 7.5 is still free, you can download and reinstall here: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/

I?m running 7.5 free and I haven?t received any notices like that. And I don?t see anything about them discontinuing the free version. Maybe you?re still running 7.1 but that was discontinued like a year ago.

Im an AVG partner/reseller if you decide to purchase the Internet Security. AVG still has, and always will have, a free version as pointed out above. You must just have the old version. Im suprised you havent seen the notices before...

The newer version of AVG ask you to register your e-mail address so you can get a registration code. Ask you to do it once every 13 months.
