Anyone on this board know anything about the 4x4 conversions? I have the opportunity to buy 2 1955 Coleman conversion trucks, one with a v-plow and dump bed and the other just a cab. 1250.00 both are Cummins diesels and one is turboed. Any thoughts?

It would be nice to see some pictures of what they look like.

What exactly are you wanting to know?

My grandfather had an old 1950s GMC truck with a Coleman 4x4 conversion on it. He used it for plowing the county roads in Yuma county years ago after big blizzards. He also had an old Ford with a Marmon Herrington conversion. Both were a pain to get parts for.

Im really not looking for any specific info, just to learn what more i can about the trucks. "Pain to get parts" is a good heads up.

His troubles finding parts were over 30 years ago too, as he passed away in 1978. I'm sure there's groups out there who restore them and have sources for parts, just like any other specialty auto application. You'd just have to find who/where they are. Google may be helpful.

I even strike out on google, other than a few pics of the trucks.
