I saw that on the news last night and read the story this morning... I don't think the story is 100% biased towards the landowners this time. They talk about how the land is being booby-trapped and how the landowners are trying to close off the forest roads. I think that this one is actually one of the more non-biased reports I've seen in a while from the news stations. Granted the landowners are still getting their sob story in i.e.
"I feel invaded," said one homeowner who asked not to be identified. "And nobody wants to help us."
Personally I believe the landowners should have been charged with a lot more than just blocking off public roads. If they were the ones booby-trapping the whole area, then I think criminal charges should have been leveled against them.

I agree with 80CJ7, when I saw the story on the news last night I was happy to see it reported that the couple was charged with booby-trapping the tralis, and blocking access. At least this way the general public can see what the Law is and that trail users are having their access to the trails denied.

At least it was not some "Human Interest" piece that was worded to the effect of: The rampant use of this trail has forced these law abiding residents to take action that, even for the good of the community and public safty, has been deamed un-lawful by the local sheriff."

All together the coverage of these events (this one and the cutting of the trees @ Jamestown) get out the fact that everyday people are being un-lawfully denied access to pubic trails. The only real bad coverage we can get is if another incident happens like the one in Caribou w/ the radio station.

I agree also that the story was fairly reported. When I saw the first few seconds, I was cringing thinking I was about to see another one sided bashing of the off highway enthusiasts. I was pleasantly surprised to see how it was handled. Unfortunately, a lot of these people that move to remote areas are what I call "Social Misfits". They trust no one and want to be left completely alone because they do not get along with people. Their way of thinking is very different from most of the community, so they get away to the mountains to be isolated. Then, they find out they are not so isolated and become a victim of the recreational vehicle enthusiasts. They make up these stories of being vandalized and threatened, dosregarding the fact that the road was there LONG before they bought the property. It's like me having the first new house built on a new street, and then insisting to have it closed. I get very sick of hearing about these poor "victims". Mr. Boslough is a prime example.

When I caught the last half of the report on tv, it seemed like they went out of their way to describe and show the different ways the trail had been boobytrapped. I think the reporter holding up the 2x4 with the nails sticking out of it went a long way to show that the off-roaders were the victims in this one.
