I just bought a new '07 700r Raptor and I'm looking for a good easy place close by to spend some time breaking it in. I've never bought a brand new atv before and want to start it's life right before I beat the crap out of it. I was thinking of going over to Rampart, but I have not been there in years and never with a quad. I live in Morrison/Golden area and something close by and reletivly free of mud and snow would be nice. Any ideas?

Close??? PMI in Pueblo is dry. Are you talking about Rampart Reservoir behind the AFA? Can you take quads back there?

I would find a spot with no snow...I had a heck of a time two Sundays ago with the wife's 450, which is 75 lbs less than my Raptor. I am soooo glad I didn't bring that quad. Lifting it would have been next to impossible in the deep snow.

Enjoy your new quad...there is a reason they are the best selling quad out there. I put the HMF full SS exhaust on mine, K&N intake system and the HMF fueling map...it moves pretty good now. If you need a download of the maintenance manual for your bike...just let me know. It is very detailed.

Almost forgot...after you burn up your factory tires...do yourself a favor and just get a rim and tire package with Baja Rims....or something stronger. I had one true rim after the first 40 hours.

Sorry, the "Rampart" I was refering to is Rampart Range near Castle Rock or Sedalia. But, I would realy like to check the area in Pueblo. I've driven by there several times in the past. I won't have a chance to get down there untill later this summer, but it looks awsome. I'm gonna try Rampart Range this Sunday. It's supposed to be a nice day. but you know how that goes. As long as there is not mutch snow I'll be alright. At this point, the less tempation to pin the throttle, the better!

P.S. Thanks for aftermarket tunning tips Chris. I'll put 'em on the list. What skid plates did/do you use, and what would you reccomend?

Just get some good aluminum skid plates.

Rode from rainbowfalls to Rampart Range last Sat and there is lots of snow. We had 4wd but was tuff. Had to winch and shovel couple times. Lots of snowmobile tracks on Ramparts range and surrounding trails. I would recommend waiting. Just my .02
