Just got back from snowshoeing to the Benedict huts outside of Aspen. It is a seriously tough climb! Spent two nights. The snow was beautiful and deep. So deep, in fact, that it was piled about six feet high on the roofs of the huts and the outhouse. No problem on the huts. On the outhouse, though, the snow was so deep that it had covered up and closed off the vent for releasing gas from the pit. That outhouse stunk BAAAAAAAAD!!!

Yup, there is a lot of snow out there! This is a pic of the outhouse at Betty Bear Hut, where I spent President's Day weekend. The vent was working fine, no odors at all. But we were very careful not to slam the door!

Great pic. I haven't done a hut trip in the winter yet. We did the mountain bike ride from Telluride to Moab a couple of years ago. I would like to try the winter snowshoeing thing with the huts
