I did drive my Jeep today, tho.
I'm thinking air up the 35's to max PSI, get a good running start, and I could make it across!
Seriously, I'd probably try it, just to get on the News.

Well, I've seen the snowmobiles ripping across the lakes on youtube.
I've seen skiers make it across the pond at Winter Park's Spring Splash.
60MPH ought to do it. 4WD high.

I was there before it opened up like that, traffic hadnt backed up to bad, but the entire right side of the northbound lanes was a raging river, pretty funny actually. Peaople were still driving thru the water, lucky no cars fell in when the hole opened up, someone would have drowned for sure.

I went to Fine Line Signs to pick up an order today...left I-25 and Evans to head up to I-25 and I-70ish at 3:45...got to the store at ~ 4:45 and that was getting off I-25 at Downing and taking Speer all the way up.

All you need is a good set of paddle tires and about 1000hp, you should make it. I have done it on a dirt bike before. just keep it wide open and hope for the best.

I unfortunately got stuck in the mess. They said it happened around 3 and I was cruising through right when the trucks were closing 25 (around ~3:15) Glad I got diverted, would have sucked to sit after the 70 exit in that mess. 5 lanes turned into one to get off at I70. Was a zoo, I'm just glad I didn't run out of fuel b/c I was damn close.

Water was to deep, and to fast to get near the hole, Im serious it looked like a river running down the side of 25, theres a wall right there, so all the water was running down the highway, and it was fast and deep. You would be washed away before you got to the hole.

I dare anybody to drive through it. You'll be on the news like that nut down here in Pueblo that drove right into a flooded underpass after a major rain storm. She made it about 8 feet when it started floating, bobbed like a cork and sunk. She was lucky somebody was able to pull her out. I was watching the news and they showed her driving right into live. I thought the anchor was having a WTF? momement. Did she actually drive in to it?? Yep!
From the looks on the news this morning, it's deeper than you think.

someone told me last night that before they could get it turned off, that the pipe had 'spilled' more water than denver uses in a DAY  something in the millions of gallons
JeepWheelin02

Highly possible. Being as that is a main pipe it is probably at least a 4 ft pipe, and passes about 400 gallons per second.

This summer's watering restrictions will come earlier than originally planned.

The radio said it is a 66" dia pipe, and they had to drain 1.6 miles of it to fix this break. Being the dork I am, I calculated this to be 18,000,000 gallons of water that had to be drained. The radio also said the daily usage from Denver Water is ~115,000,000 gallons.

yes, but thats only what was DRAINED to fix it... what about the water that flowed out? i'm not looking to start a :duel: but i'd bet there was a whole lot more water than 18million gallons that were lost.
and for the record, that does make you a dork :flipoff2:

Again, from the news, 2,000,000 gallons leaked.

Got caught in that just after 2:30. Only thing I saw was merge left water on road. How about Get off I-25 No Road Ahead. Sit there for 2 hours. Finally got sent down the on ramp to I-70. Tried pecos and a train had it stopped. Cut across to federal and got home. A nice 3+ hour drive home,
