Hey Cole,
I just wanted to follow up after you drove that Silverado the other day. You mentioned you were just getting started thinking about what you wanted to do as far as a new vehicle. I would definitely appreciate an opportunity to do what I can with my resources to earn your business. If you are thinking about doing something like another Audi, you might think about checking out the '08 Malibu. They are a real nice ride and we just got one in yesterday. ......

Wow, usually they try to upsell you.

Good follow up. The new Malibu's are selling faster than they can produce them, although I wouldn't put it in the category of an Audi.

And why would you ever part with your oh-so-sweet Audi?

why would someone looking at trucks even consider a malibu????

Going through a weak moment of boredom with the Audi and Jeep. Plus I kind of like test driving new cars to see what I like.

So how was the truck? Schweet?

Edit to add:

And what the hell were you doing in a Chevy dealership without checking out the awesomeness of the Corvette??????????

lol, same thing happened to me last week.

I was at the Toyota Dealership looking at new Tacomas and told the salesman my top dollar i wanted to spend was 25K. He sends me an email two days later saying they had a "bitchin, fully loaded 08 Tundra 4 door model for 40,000 bucks"....

I wanted something somewhat affordable that gets decent mileage that i can haul my bike and other toys around with...not a fully loaded gas guzzling tow rig for 800 bucks a month. :flipoff2:

You mean PASSING.....as in blowing by them, right? :D

Having owned both, 'tis the truth. And my Saudi was modded at least to the extent Cole's is.

I think I've told this story before, but when I was looking for my (current) truck, I sent the specs to 3 Chevy dealers. (I wanted a middle of the road 3/4 or 1 ton).

GO (GMC?) on Colfax and 6 sends me back an email with this LOADED dually longbed and EVERY possible option for 50+.

I replied back to maybe check over my specs again.

Then they sent me this stripped down fleet 1500 with NO options.

Hey, guess what? nevermind, fawkers! :flipoff2:

So you can get a diesel in the Malibu?

I really liked the 08 3/4 ton diesel. They really stepped up the interior closer to what you would expect to find in a 50K vehicle. Ride was nice. Better than the Ford or Dodge. I'm sure all the difference is in the IFS.

Loaded with cool features. Had a decent amount of power. (remember I drove there in a 470hp/600tq awd sedan that is 1/2 the weight of the truck)

It was REALLY easy to spin the tires on the truck. Too easy really. I would cook tires off that thing every 3 weeks. Guess I am just too use to my AWD car.

I'm in a bit of a quandry. I REALLY like my car and my Jeep. But the car has 140K on it and can suck $5k out fo your pocket at any given moment. I hardly use the Jeep and feel that most of my wheeling trips in the near future will be in the Trail Clean up truck I am building anyway. Which leads to the next problem. If I bought a new crew cab diesel I would have 2 crew cabs, but no car or Jeep.

I wouldn't get rid of the car or Jeep myself. As for the car sucking that kind of cash out of your pocket, it is getting close to summer and that is why you have the bike

What would be the purpose of the truck? If you don't intend to tow anything with it, it is not worth it in my opinion. Deisel is too high right now to justify buying something that gets less than 20mpg.

None at all Camp. That is the #1 thing keeping me from buying one. I would have nothing to tow, nothing to haul, nothing. Just a nice rig to play with and tweak. I have ZERO need for a truck like that. But I like it:D

Now if I could just find a reasonably priced diesel to swap into this old Chevy Crew cab:evil:

There is a yard north of Brighton that you can get 12 valve and 24 valve cummins out of. I don't know the name anymore and since I haven't been there, it is hearsay but, I have heard about it from more than a couple of people.

I'd be very interested. I think it would make a great addition to this truck. Being able to run on Biodiesel would help promote a "cleaner" truck than the current 454.

I have looked into Propane (and I see you posted on the other thread). But it is not very feasable for a truck I want to drive any long distance not knowing if I can find propane along the way. (even dual fuel is expensive enough I would rather swap in a diesel)

If you are serious about wanting a Cummins, I probably have a few contacts that can hunt them down. I don't know enough guys playing with the other stuff to turn to in order to find one at a good price. Find them, yes, at a good price, maybe not.

Woah! Is this your S4? If so, I fully retract my comment about my old A4 being equally modded. And if you're squeezing that kind of power from it, I feel your pain when you say it can make a 5K noise at any moment.

Do tell more!

Here are some pics of my S4! (and yes, that is my actual motor that we pulled to make these posters:D ) So this is the actual car the salesman saw in person, even under the hood, that caused him to bring up the Malibu:shrug:

That motor lays down 470/600?

Holy mother of God.

I'm highly impressed. Knowing what I kicked down to get 330HP from my 1.8T, your tuner must LOVE you.

Very impressive.

What I have here is a 6 pack of 2 year old room temp natty light. Now I would be willing to trade you straight shot for your 12 pack of sunshine wheat.

Sounds fair to me.

Yes, according to stealerships, they dont make a penny on aftermarket stuff youve done to the car so they cant pass the money on to you...

But i guarantee the next day you traded that thing in, you'd see it out front marketed as a "tuners dream" with a list of all the mods and stuff done to it...priced accordingly(read outrageous!) :flipoff2:
