What year is you psd? 1995-1997 may have already kinda have one, you would just have to hard wire it. It is called the EBPV - Exhaust back presure valve. It was put on the OBS (old body style) to help warm the engine quicker. I don't think the 99-03 7.3 had them but I don't know.

I did this to mine and absolutely love it. Especially in the mountains. I took my 5th wheel over to Silverthorne, left it in 5th and never touched the brakes.
I would recomend anyone to put an exhaust brake on if they are pushing the limits on towing.

Yes, all 7.3L had them AFAIK. Mine's an 02 as well and it's in there!
