Re: Volunteer for the Great High Line Canal Clean Up

Location: Community College of Aurora, 16000 E. Centre Tech Parkway

Each year the Canal Clean Up attracts hundreds of volunteers eager to clean up the 11
miles of the High Line Canal that wind through Aurora. We need Segment Leaders to
assist volunteers in each one-mile section of the canal. Leaders ensure volunteers get
where they need to go, stay safe and have supplies.

We are also looking for help registering volunteers on the morning of the event. This
includes collecting waivers, assigning volunteers to segments and distributing volunteer
gifts and snacks.

To participate, contact Mary Dawson at 303-739-7372 or mdawson@auroragov.org.
Please pass on this information to anyone who may be interested.

We look forward to working with you at this wonderful event!

Who owns the canal?

Denver Water owns it and 5 agencies manage recreation along it:

"The canal has become a major recreational amenity in the Denver area with its trail used for hiking, biking, jogging and horseback riding. Douglas County administers the first 8.7 miles of trail, Highlands Ranch Metropolitan Districts the next 7.1, South Suburban Park and Recreation District 18.1 miles, Denver City Parks 13.2 miles and Aurora City Parks and Open Space 10.7 miles."
