I've got a '67 Sport. Anyone else have an EB on this site? I saw some post in my "sayin hello" thread

There's quite a few guys on here that have EB's. Clint and Steve are two of the nicer rigs that are on here, that I've seen. I have a 76 thats still not done and road worthy yet.

Count me in with a 69 that will never be done, and as soon as I get home I hope to make her no longer road worthy.

I've seen yours on classicbroncos MikeEB. Wasnt sure if this was more of a Jeep site or what it was

Steve

Mine started life as a 69. Still titled as one. Now fuel injected, C4, Atlas 4.3, narrowed 8" in the front and built for serious rock crawling.

This site is for Colorado wheeling, not specific to any brand or model. Watch the Staging Area and go on some runs. You'll meet some great people here.

I would love an early bronco... Since I sold the TJ, I've been keeping my eyes out for another project/toy and I think this is the direction I wanna go...

I also have a 70 EB that I haven't started on yet.

Another Colo Spgs EB owner chiming in. I got a white 1973 EB 302/C4/Dana20/44/9 (stock).

Don't mean to hijack the thread but what do y'all think about that Atlas 4-speed X-fer case (price non-withstanding).

I also want to yank the fuelie 5.0 from my '95 GT 'Stang and put it in and I was wondering how tough that would be to do.

What's the hot ticket for an EB owner looking for an AOD auto?

I've got questions for days- what sites/threads do you recommend for getting up to speed on Broncs?

Thanks!

classicbroncos.com is a good one, as is bfix.com. Sign up for their mailing list as the site doesnt do a whole lot.

Putting the 5.0 in is EASY. If you were on this side of the mountain, we could do it in a couple days. There are a TON of writeups on it, check on classicbroncos.com for that. Its a very easy swap.

Classicbroncos.com. (http://classicbroncos.com/forums/index.php) Nationwide, and nothing but EB stuff there. There's nothing you can ask that multiple people won't be able to answer.

Clint, Steve- you two seem to be THE go-to guys when it comes to this, thanks for the replys and the info!

I'm a former TJ owner and loved the rig but our state is (for good reason) innundated with Jeeps- I kinda wanted to be my own dog- it's time for some old school!

I have a 1948 early bronco. :D Ok Ok so its a flat fender with bronco drive train and running gear. 4V 289, C4, atlas 4.3, 35 spline true high 9 rear, Shoulda just bought and built an EB.

I see a lotta jeepers runnin Bronco stuff. Theres a kid in the student lot with a black 97 Wrangler with a ford 9" Dana 44 dana 20, and a bronco guage cluster, oh yah and I think he's runnin Cage extended radius arms with WH shock hoops. So, I dunno... maybe Jeepers are startin to see the light

JR4X

Because the bronco got the best drive train/power train for its size. Better than any other small 4x4 IMO. 1/2 ton drive train in a 1/4 ton truck even heavier scouts dont have as good of axles. The later the year the better. As a ford guy from as long as I can remember I also like the smaller body of the jeep. And since a flattie has a drive train that could make you pull your hair out the half ton bronco stuff is a nice fitting swap. My power to wieght ratio is awsome now! I bet I can take most ANY 4x4 light to light in a drag.

Yes Clint I still have her and yes I drive her everyday - I just need to decide what to do with her - no one else wants to buy her, so it may seem that I am going to have to build her when the time comes (the atvs have taken over).....

Its nothin special, decent build, decked block, lighting upper and lower, mustang mass air setup, 24lb injectors. I really wanna put some good heads on it. It gets the job done ;)

I need some junk 33s to roast, not to ruin good ones :)

Knock knock knock can't be a good thing (tear :( )

So I found a 351 out of a 86ish F150, the guy has the harness for it as well.

I was wondering if you guys could give some insight on what it takes to convert to a fuelie 351. The good the bad and the ugly please!

I appreciate your help!

I smell TECH :)

Best bet, start a thread in Gen4x4 and we will hook ya up. Its easy.

The 86 should be a throttle body fuel injection, which can work just fine.

If you want to change it, then we need more info. Are you going to work the motor over? Leave it as is and run it? You can change over to a mustang harness, mustang injector harness and mustang computer fairly easy, then are you running mass air. You will need a 351 fuel rail or modify a mustang one, and injectors of course....

Then you gotta tie it into the wiring.

Thats what I was thinking. Co4x4 take over at the track. I plan on posting it in the staging area and hope that a bunch of people show up so we can all run each other.

No fullsize ford trucks were ever throttle body injected. An 86 would be whats called speed density injection. Ford came out with it on the trucks in 85 on 2wd's 86 on the bronco. Its a multi port fuel injection but is very limited in performance. I will garuantee the plenum on top of the intake WILL NOT fit under the hood of an EB. You would need a tall cowl induction or other scoop to clear it. My advise would be to get a car mass air engine and harness (mustang, crown victoria, lincoln) or the ultra rare lightning set up. Here are two VERY helpfull links to ford fuel injection info.

http://ford.off-road.com/ford/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=198382
http://fordfuelinjection.com/index.php?p=17

Read it till your head hurts. Then read it again. If you still want to mess with injection after that you are a fine candidate for a swap thread.

Like Clint said start a thread in gen4x4 and we can hook you up.

And you are correct, I am so used to dealing with car motors and I forget about the truck motors. And I do agree, its gonna be easier to use a car motor or an explorer 5.0 to do the swap as far as space goes. If I had my choice, I would look for the explorer motor.

The wife has given me approval to keep the EB. We both feel that there is no way that we could replace her later for what we would get for her now. So after much deliberation and thought - she gets to stay in the family. With all the new toys and payments it is going to be a while before she gets put back into the build mode - but if I at least keep up on the oil changes and all the basic maintenance she will continue to run.

I wanted to gauge interest and ask if anyone was in the market for a '73 Bronco- I want to pay off some debt! I'll look into becoming a paying member ASAP to post pics but if anyone wanted pics write me and I'd be glad to send 'em your way via email!

The 302 went south a little over a month ago and I should have it R/R'd within the next couple weeks (I finally have some time off!). It's more or less stock with new misc parts i.e. rebuilt carb, fuel pump, alternator, battery, brighter headlights, tube bumpers (Smittybuilt?), 6 BFG A/T 35's, new OE style cage, new bikini top etc.

I am asking around for what I should price it at now- I just decided I'd sell this afternoon. If you want to know more let me know!
