What the heck is that in the first picture?? Obviously not the sun but seems to bright to be the moon?? Either way, cool picture.

The second on is defiantly the best of the bunch! I like the trees with the soft glow of the horizon in the background.

That is the moon in the first pic. I used a 15 second shutter, so it turned out pretty bright, but I like the rainbows.
These are all from my "point and shoot" Panasonic-Lumix DMC-LZ3. It is hard to get it to do what I want with the auto features, but I'm finding ways to trick it with what settings I do have.
Also notice the nice blur spot from a piece of debri in the lense. Still waiting for my DSLR....

Looks to me like a longer exposure...still the moon. If you look close, you can see that the stars have moved slightly.

Ive just never seen lens flare from the moon...Most long exposures of the moon just turn into a big white blob, but that came out neat. Coulda been a dirty lens but its still a cool effect!

Here is pretty much the same shot with a 30 second shutter. As far as longer shutter speeds, I can only go 15, 30, and 60. At 60 pointed toward the full moon, the shots just look like a white blur.

I was trying to capture a plane (lights and contrail).

Here Jeffro- I took this one about 10 minutes ago. So damn windy though, and the trees won't stay still. Thanks for the compliment. Pretty much the same spot. The moon is finially starting to come up, so I might get some better shots before bed.

Oh, and yeah, a tripod is my best friend.

Id like to see the exposure on the trees toned down just a bit but still a great picture! The sky is just beautiful!!

Last shot for the night. The clouds are breaking up, the city lights are turning off, the sky is getting too dark, it's WAY too windy, the temps are in the single digits, and my feet are getting cold from tromping through the woods in the snow.

Even better than the first two! Exposure is spot on with the trees and sky, but it did lose alot of the glow from lack of clouds. Try it again on a calm night when the trees are more cooperative so their nice and sharp.
