I am just ranting a little here...

So I went out quad'n yesterday for a few hours down in PMI, Pueblo. I have recently been going down there for the simple fact...no snow.

I just had to sit back and think why I didn't ride or offroad down here for the past few years. I was reminded.

-There were so many kids on over sized quads...it was ridiculous. I seen one kid...maybe 7 on a Suzuki King Quad 700. He had two younger kids with him (brothers maybe) and they were hauling a$$ everywhere. They all had no helmets or gear. What are people thinking?

-In the parking area buy the race track, people were having drag racing tryouts while little kids are running around and/or riding their little 50cc bikes around. I was amazed there were no kids ran over...and the 1/4" of dust on my truck was nice too.

-So I decided to ride out back for a bit. There were plenty of people out there are well. I wear ear plugs when I ride, so it is hard to hear some things, but I thought the bike was backfiring. Bike was fine...so I start looking in the close area I was in. Then I run into a few guys shooting pistols in a ditch. I really don't think they were old enough to own pistols (21), but they were shooting in a direction were people were riding though the ditch!!! I watched 4 people ride through the ditch while they were shooting. WOW..

So before I step off my soapbox...please be careful if you ride down at PMI on the weekends. This was an eye opener for me..yet again.

Thanks for the heads up.
I'm going to be in the area some this summer and would have ended up over there.
I have an 8 yr old and 13 yr old on quads too, I can't see how people can let their kids ride w/o gear on..... Just plain stupid.

I'm concerned about riding at Rampart with them, I've been in close calls down there too. Teens hauling but around blind corners, adults hauling but around blind corners.... Doesn't make a difference.. They are either riding tanked up or thinking they are Gods of the dirt and it's your problem to stay out of their way. I held up three fingers and got flipped off. I'm guessing they didn't know trail etiquette either.

Thanks Chris - I agree with you one hundred percent. My son (8 1/2) rides his Kymco 50 - Never without a helmet (unless riding infront of our house, which is in a coldisac) and NEVER NEVER NEVER without supervision from either me or my wife. My daughter (10) riders her Grizzly 350 - Never without a helmet (again unless infront of our house) and NEVER NEVER NEVER without supervision from either me or my wife. I have on occation let my duaghter ride the 700 by herself, but I make sure that I am only a couple feet away and not anywhere that she could get hurt or hurt someone else.

I cannot believe that someone is that stupid to shoot a firearm in the direction of people....... Ever since I was a small child I was always taught how to shot and where to shot.... Someone is going to get hurt, it is just a question of when...

Chris someday when you are in the area give me a shout and I will go ride with you. Also I will keep you posted if I have come over your way.

We will be going to Moab in April (late) or early May. We may be out your way as well. We have sport quads...so there is a limit on "rock crawling"!!LOL

Don't get me wrong guys..it is a fun place to ride. I have seen my fair share of accidents out at PMI. Lets see if I can remember half of them...
-broke my wrist on the finish line table top.
-to many crashes on the race track to keep count due to the roughness.
-Seen several people on the race track collide with other bikes/atv's from going the wrong direction. 1 of those was most likely a fatality...this kid was in really bad shape.
-Seen 1 time of a motorcycle hitting a truck that was out on the race track.
-had my truck's ran into a couple times by people hot rodding around by the parking area.
-can't count how many times I have seen atv's rolled over from sharp turning.
-seen a few rollovers from offroaders in the back of PMI. This is where I seen first hand that a locker up front and nothing in the back was a bad idea.

Good times...

The Grizz is plenty fast - I did have it up to 71mph and left off - she still had a little bit left in her... hahaha.... My brother-in-law take his ETRX out with us all the time it is funny to see him get a run at things that we just walk up.

Yeah, the Grizzly 700 is the lightest in the class with a big FI motor...they are going to haul ass. My boss brought his out to the power plant one weekend and we had a bunch of fun on that bad boy. I could only get it up to 60 mph due to road length issues.
