And ex Hummer owner (now another JK convert) from a Hummer forum I?m a member of has a pretty wonderful idea that I think will balloon into something huge. Jason works in Iraq training Iraq police and is just as much in the line of fire as the rest of the heroes serving this country. Basically when he comes back in the summer he is planning a cross country wheeling adventure and will be taking wounded veterans out on the trails with him along the way.
His plan started only about a week ago as a sightseeing trip and yet another H2 convert (Phil D) and Jason hatch the Wheelers For The Wounded idea. I honestly think this could be a big story and is great for our image.
It looks like Four Wheeler! And a couple of other companies are in as sponsors and like I said this could balloon and help more than a few vets with what I think will be lots of donations.
His MySpace is http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=320753688
The idea is unfolding here http://www.hummerxclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6371
Anyhow I thought I?d share.

Glad to see this posted up here as well! We've started working on some stuff as hosts on CoTTORA:

and there has been some discussion on this forum here:

I've been chatting a bit with Jason over the last month and it looks like we have a great group of folks turning out in CO.
We are hoping to have a logistics session on/about Saturday March 22, 2008 in Denver, so let me/us know if you would like to join us.
Look forward to meeting more folks soon! Eric
PS, Here's Jason's site. Check out his forum there as well:

We welcome any help for this event. This is going to be a HUGE undertaking and we want the support of all Colorado wheelers, not just the Toyota group that is sponsoring it. The main discussion and planning is on the WFTW forum site that FJcruzer refers to....
Oh and here is the Colorado Chapter Forum: http://wheelersforthewounded.org/forum/index.php/board,11.0.html
So if you want to help post up there. We want to make this an event to remember!

Sign me up. I can always make time for something like this. I'll tow my pop-up so that there are a few semi comfortable beds and I'll tent it.

What you should do, and alot of us can help with this too. I am a medically retired SSG. I was wounded in Iraq on my 3 trip over there. I own a built 91 YJ, and have been on here ALOT...now, I would recommend that you go through the Med board division at Evens Army Community Hospital, and try to advertise there for wounded vets to go on this thing. You should be able to get a smaller list to take guys out than going through the VA. There is also a Med Hold Company on FT. Carson now for all of the wounded Vets. Good luck with this...as a wounded Vet myself I can say that this is a GREAT IDEA!!! And I'm in!!!!!

Already checked on it - "advertising" at the VA is definitely NOT allowed, but good idea to check with the smaller Army hospitals...

We should also get with the Wounded Warrior Project and have them put out information on this around the Nation. It might give other wheelers the idea too, so that any of these guys can get out with us and wheel!! I will go on post and talk to the command group here at the Med Hold CO, and see what they can do to help.
