Just stopped by the Moab booth at the sportsman show and they have no pics or anything related to jeeps or 4 wheeling. Their main board shows the typical arch with pics of mnt biking, rafting, golf, hiking and eating but nothing in the offroad world. Now this shows to me that they are trying to get rid of the offroad attatchment.

Did you play dumb and ask them something like "I had heard from a buddy there was some really good wheeling out there, what do you guys know about that?"

we did, she just said that they still promote it with the ejs and they chose to take the jeep off the board due to mnt bikeing and rafting were big interst there. We asked her what type of money does the mnt bikers usally bring in vs the jeeps, she rolled her eyes.

jeepin and quads really have nothing to do with the "sportsman" thing just as a wheelin' thing would not promote fishin' and bikin' don't ya think. i don't see anything wrong with that.

I bet they are tired of a lot of the asshats that go there and just tear it up and destroy the area.... not that other sports don;t have their morons.. but that is my guess! Seeing how I Wheel and Bike it's still a fun place for me!

With legislators proposing stuff like this they can keep the red rocks to themselves...

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - ABC 4 News has learned that a proposal to ban the sale of cold beer is now being talked about by some powerful Utah lawmakers.
According to a very well placed capitol source, the idea of selling only warm beer actually came up Tuesday at the senate's republican caucus.
Reportedly, here's the thinking behind introducing and passing a warm beer bill in the legislature.
If beer at Utah grocery or convenience stores had to be sold warm, that might discourage people from drinking beer right away or from drinking as much.
But one beer drinker we talked to brought up the following point, saying, "A lot of beer isn't filtered. It has live organisms in it which will actually spoil if it?s warm for too long."
Now, ABC 4 News is being told the senator who raised this idea has been told to study it more and then report back to the republican caucus.
So, at this point, its not clear if there will be a warm beer bill or law this year.
But, as you might imagine, this has been a pretty hot or warm topic at the capitol.
Not only did several other legislators confirm that this idea has come up, but also one jokingly suggested you could accomplish the same thing by only selling frozen beer.

5minutes is all it takes to cool down a warm beer if you stick it in ice, by the time ya get where your going with it, its cold beer.

Been going there forever, I never not felt welcome there. I am respectful of the locals, am nice to the cops as they watch the Douche Larouxs who are bad for all of us out there, they come from CA, CO ,UT and all points around.

For about three years now we have been going to Moab but not spending any money there. We bring everything and camp down by BFE. Got tired of the cops pulling us over.:flipoff2:

When gas stations, restaurants, motels and 4x4 shops in Moab stop taking our money, then we can believe that they don't want us there. Until that happens (which will be at a quarter after never), all we hear are a few cranks pissing and moaning like a bunch of little babies.
My reaction is:
Moab isn't going anywhere. :D

I was thinking any beer outside of the state store is 3.2. After buying beer at the SS once, I make sure I bring plenty with me from CO. As I recall, SS beer is sold warm.
My guess is that this is an (feeble) attempt at curbing drinking and driving, not infringing on wheeler's god given rights to drink themselves into oblivion. :D:beer:

Amen
Never underestimate the beer consumption, either. Saddening to have to buy Utah 3.2 in day 3 of 5 due to the coolers being drained quicker than planned.

Because as soon as the locals don't want us there, they'll fight to get it closed down. We need allies, not enemies where we wheel.
I have always felt welcome. I have generally only been there during GSW (Grand Slam West - ~50 Grand Cherokee's) so it is much less "intense" then EJS and probably get a different vibe then during EJS.

Both of these, are spring and summer sports. Maybe they are just promoting the spring and summer sports since it's right around the corner? who knows.

True there are some developers in realestate who out right DONT want wheelin in their new home. I was accosted by two men and a women for parking my jeep on a vacant lot because they didnt want a jeep on their property. I know quite a few long time residents of moab and visit often. The newbies from california and such that are making millions buying and selling our wheeling grounds DONT want recreational wheeling there becuase they feel it scares away potential retire'ees. The true locals like the commerce and only dislike or hate the young drinkin drivin drag racin crowds that only come around ejs and the car show. Every one seems to be fine with the family atmosphere but after the last year that spring break was the same week as ejs. And it was literally like mardi gras and a rainbow gathering combined. The comunity of moab would gladly go with out that again. I have been partying in moab for ten years and have never been bothered by the police. Because I dont race through town in my loud ass jeep racing from light to light. Enjoy moab as much and as long as you can because westerners with big money will continue to buy and close prescious land. As Utah is constantly selling its assets to attempt to keep up revenue. I never thought I would see the day when dump bump and lions back would be closed. Two staples of the moab experience gone to developement:rant: . Potato salad's next folks if its not already.
