View Full Version : Colorado Landmarks Quiz...
Jeff Mason
January 24th, 2008, 10:33 AM
A takeoff from DaJudge's thread. Let's post a picture of a Colorado Landmark (from Google, directly overhead - no angle shots, etc.) and then guess what it is. Winner gets to post the next picture. Landmark can be natural or man-made, but should have cultural or historical significance (i.e. no pictures of Hooters locations, etc.) General geographic areas or locations that have non-descript terrain probably won't work too well, so choose wisely!)
"winner" is the person that correctly identifies the location/landmark. Bonus points given for additional knowledge or factoids presented about the location.
I will start, with an easy one:

Everything you wanted to know about US ICBM silos - all 1,231 of them - and overhead photos of just about every one of them is here:

There are 50 active silos in CO and 23 deactivated ones. One of them is a city park in Greeley.

Actually, that looks more like the Progressive Insurance Call Center at 12710 Voyager Parkway
The state-of-the-art Progressive Insurance facility will consist of three connected buildings - two three-story and one two-story. The design emphasizes large, open floor plates for maximum call center use while taking full advantage of dramatic views of Pikes Peak and the front range of the Colorado Rockies. In addition to call center areas, the project provides on-site health care, a cafeteria, a fitness center and corporate offices. The buildings feature a raised-floor system with under-floor air distribution for maximum employee comfort and building efficiency.
I think the next few rounds should concentrate on 'known' features or locations in Colorado, not just random buildings!!!!
