When Hurrican Katrina hit, we were told it was Global Warming. The Global Warming was going to make more and far worse hurricanes! But now...

Study: Global Warming May Reduce Atlantic Hurricanes (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,324995,00.html)

Global Warming confuses me...

Global warming is a joke, a ploy to sell something. Whatever it is that they are marketing.

Everybody knows Katrina was caused by GW's hatred for black people...

At the risk of giving away my age, I remember not too long ago the
paranoia of the day was that we were headed for an Ice Age.

Global warming is Horse-Sssshtuff

The earth has been here billions of years and we have been a blip
in comparison.

Actually I have heard people say that global warming will cause colder winters with more precipitation, it is supposed to cause more extremes on both ends. I don't believe them though...

Yota

But they also say it the other way around.

Bottom line is that the theory of anthropogenic GW is utterly bogus. Recent science has shown other far far more important reasons for global warming if, indeed, the globe is really warming all that much. There is some science that says it has warmed a miniscule amount and other research that says not so much.

Why is the world so eager to spend heaps of (largely American) treasure on this crock of a theory? (rhetorical question)

too many cars causes too much CO2 which in turn causes everything, you know, floods, draughts, very intense storms, very few storms, extreme cold, extreme heat.

you know, pretty much everything is because we are spiraling headlong to a giant rainforest world :)

IMHO there is a group of like minded people with an arrogance level high enough to believe mankind is so significant that we can affect the planet and possibly the universe itself. Without these superior human beings looking out for the common folk, the entire planet is doomed to self destruct.

This elite group of concerned folks favors using government to control the rest of us, since we rarely know what is in our own best interest. Some are so environmentally concerned they even buy carbon credits (money goes to manage existing forests that would be managed anyway) to offset their own excess pollution ie private planes, extra large homes etc. Isn't that thoughtful of them?

funny thing, back when MAD was around with the former USSR you never heard of this, the general consensus was we were nearing an ice age, but I guess we have to have some potentiial disaster to look forward to

Damned you guys are old...

Hey Al, Rimmer, Clyde, et al -- remember the tragedy of "Beach Erosion"?

I'm thinking we need to go back and study that in significantly more detail than our predecessors - especially given the current trend toward tinier and tighter swim-wear (and, well, just tighter in general).

Notice how they've started calling it "global climate change" so that it's more ambiguous and tougher to argue against in the winter? I liked the little bit of global warming that we got today. I actually kept the shop door open for half the day.

Global warming is just the new buzz word for all the crap they have been shoving down our thoughts for years. Why dont we ever hear about "the green house effect" or "acid rain". I just wonder what they will call it next

If it wasnt for "global warming" we would still be in an ice age. I agree that we should stop flattering ourselves... humanity isn't that great. the earth will take care of herself.
