Going to buy tires for my 04 Super Duty PS on monday. Anybody have good luck or bad with any brands. Thinking of 285/75 Goodyear Silent armor AT.

My 2005 dually came with BFG rugged trails. They have 40,000 miles on them and still have over 1/2 the tread left!!

From what I have been told, the GY Silent Armor is a great tire(50K warr) and some of the best snow traction to be had. The only problem with them is when the truck is loaded down, the tires like to wonder a bit...even with the E rating (from what I have been told...but he was also towing a 34' toy hauler with a 3/4 ton). I just put the Nitto Terra Grapplers (295/70/17)on mine. So far I really like them, but I don't tow much anymore.

I almost got the GY's if the Nitto's were not such a good deal (200.00 less).

Just put the Goodyears on last night. 10 ply silent armor AT. Looks like a good tire. We will see how they wear. Thanks

A little late...

I've got GY Silent Armor Load Range E tires on my F-250 SD. I like 'em. They are quiet and seem to be wearing alright so far (~8,000 miles). Just make sure you rotate them, the fronts definitely wear quicker than the rears on my truck at least.

I've had mixed results in snow. They were great on my way to and from Criag a couple weeks ago. They seem to handle snowy roads/packed snow very well. I've done a little snow bashing, though, and they certainly aren't mudders. In heavy snow they just smooth out the snow and spin. However, put some chains on all four and my SD couldn't be stopped!

In mud they are okay. They kept me moving in really slippery stuff, but again, they certainly aren't mudders.

They are great on-road tires. Off-road, don't expect mudders.
