Some "dirtbag" in Polk County, Florida who got pulled over in a routine traffic stop ended
up "executing" the deputy who stopped him.
The deputy was shot eight times, including once behind his right ear at close range.
Another deputy was wounded and a police dog killed. A statewide manhunt ensued.
The low-life was found hiding in a wooded area with his gun. SWAT team officers fired
and hit the guy 68 times.
Naturally, the media asked why they shot him 68 times. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd
told the Orlando Sentinel:
"That's all the bullets we had!"
[DaJudge's note: actually they fired 110 shots. They only hit him 68 times.]

I'm pretty sure 10 swat guys had more than 110 rounds of ammo between them :D I'm betting each of them had more than 110 rounds on them!

Obviously they executed the guy with extreme predjudice with no trial what so ever. This is clearly a case of law enforcement officers having a god complex and taking things way to far and not being able to hold their emotions in check. This poor misguided individual never had a chance for a fair and unbiased trial that our system clearly states that has the right to have had. I'm sure the VICTIM here was abused as a child and came from a very rough upbringing.
Okay that's enough liberal bullsh!t-I can't even type that with a straight face!:P

It's probably considered bad form among SWAT guys to empty a 30 round MP5 mag into a guy, reload, and continue to fire.

That guy was hiding under a log. I'm sure that the area around him is now littered with lead. That lead will sit there until another tree grows, and the lead will slowly leech into the tree. Then someone will come along and innocently gut the tree for firewood. He'll take it home and burn it in his home. His young child will be playing leggos in front of the fire and will inhale the lead. That poor young child will have his IQ lowered. What we've got here is an environmental disaster!
That's the liberal greenie bulls%$! side of it, and I couldn't type it with a straight face either.
The shooters done a good thing.

How Do You Tell the Difference between a Democrat, a Republican and a Southern Republican? (http://asmalldoseofreality.bloghi.com/2005/09/18/how-do-you-tell-the-difference-between-a-democrat-a-republican-and-a-southern-republican.html)

The answer can be found by posing the following question:
You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, an Islamic Terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, praises Allah, raises the knife, and charges at you. You are carrying a Glock cal .40, and you are an expert shot.
You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family.
What do you do?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Democrat's Answer:
Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!
Does the man look poor or oppressed?
Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?
Could we run away?
What does my wife think?
What about the kids?
Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand?
What does the law say about this situation?
Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it?
Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?
Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me?
Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?
If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me?
Should I call 9-1-1?
Why is this street so deserted?
We need to raise taxes, have a paint and weed day and make this happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior.
This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for few days and try to come to a consensus.
I understand where you are coming from, but IMO when you gun down police officers in cold blood, you kinda give up your constitutional rights for the 24 hour period surrounding the incident.
I am kinda dissapointed in the police tho... only 68 of 110 hit? They need to spend more time on the range.
So, 25 hours later this behaviour would have then been wrong? Seems to me like they take an oath to uphold the law, not make their own law. If somebody messes with somebody in my family and I react similarly, what period of time do I get for a free "get out of jail" card?
I don't have a problem with this guy getting shot if he were resisiting arrest, or a real threat to the police arresting him. But I really have a problem making them out to be heros for their obvious lack of self control and irresponsible actions.
its kinda funny, I was born in Polk County. The sheriff's department there was the one which caught the congressman (or whatever) a few years back for online child porn/ chat room stuff....
and I believe they work with the "to catch a predator" show a lot
It isn't shooting him I object to.......shooting him 69 times wasn't justice, it was simply revenge which makes them as bad as he was. No respect in my book for that....just another black eye for law enforcement.
Funny side story for you about the swat team in greely and their mp5's. My mothers cousin is a member of swat in greely. We went to visit his family ten years ago and he was on administrative leave following him shooting someone. They were called to a trailer home where a guy was in a standoff with police that was escalating. Minutes after they got there the guy came charging out his from door with a hunting rifle, firing at police officers. My mothers cousin and other swat members opened fire ending the threat, forcing him on leave. He told us this story in a kind of glossy eyed way that made me think he was in deep remorse over shooting this guy. My mom them asked him if he felt bad for shooting the guy. His response: "No, i feel bad because we shot at him 30 times and only hit him in the pinky finger and the knee."
MP5s are fun and easy to shoot full-auto. I was able to easily put short bursts into a 55-gallon drum over and over again from about 50 yards. Even on full-auto, I'm pretty sure all 30 rounds hit the drum.
Of course, it's a whole different ball game when the target is returning fire :D
I think some people have missed some of the detail of the actual shooting. Looking at snopes, it states that when the swat team found the perp the next morning, he raised his right hand (with a handgun in it) towords the officers. Which then 9 out of 10 returned fire.
No doubt some words were exchanged, but given the circumstances if a guy known for shooting at cops comes out of cover pointing a gun at cops again he stands a pretty good chance of being shot. Why would they assume that if he's already shot anybody that trying to talk him out peacefully is going to work? It's not inconcievable for me to belive if the 9 that shot had MP5's set to full auto with 30 round mags that 110 shots would have happened in seconds. That puts an average of 9 rounds and change from each that shot at him. Not being an expert of automatic firearms that's like one burst on full auto? Draw that out over a couple of seconds or less for the cops to react and I don't see how it's excessive. Sure if they were shooting at him for 5 minutes total and kept shooting after he went down then yeah that's excessive.
If I've watched enough CSI:rolleyes: , I bet the forensics would have shown the dude got hit while standing taking hits to the torso and head. Had he been shot after falling down, the bullets would have entered at different angles proving the use of excessive force. I'm betting when the FBI checked it out they proved that. 9 guys shooting at the same target at the same time with auto or semi-auto weapons is going to provide a large volume of bullets in a very short amount of time. One or two rounds could have taken him out, but when you got 9 guys shooting at the same time with auto or semi-auto wepons, more than one or two bullets is going to hit the target.
Bottom line, the shooting probably took place over the course of 1-3 seconds of time. The time it took for the swat team to see the threat and the time it took for thier brains to send the signal to the finger to pull the triggers. One burst from each is all it took.
