I knew that in 13 months, the analog tv signals are going to go away. Just came across a good site that outlines who will and won't need a converter, and offers a $40 discount coupons for the boxes. Go to http://www.dtv2009.gov
Apparently the boxes will start being available in Feb or March, and the discount coupons will be sent in the same timeframe, and are valid for 90 days.
We won't need one at my house, but my mom is one of the estimated 14 million people pulling a signal out of the air.
