I am looking to get new tires for my duramax. Right now it has 285-75-16's and I like that size so I will try to stick to it or close. What are some cheap a/t tires in this size? I have been looking at the kuhmos at and so far I think that is the best bet for me. I burn through tires too fast to get expensive ones :D Anyone used kumhos before? Or any other cheap tire like that? Is there a better place then tirerack to get them?

thanks

Toyo A/T's for highway use. As far as M/T's IDK. I've run all of them and they all wear fast on a D-Max + towing

you get what you pay for buy michelins or bfgs the only thing that will handle the tq of the dmax and they will last

I have the Michelin LTX M/S tires (http://www.michelinman.com/tires/light-truck/ltx-ms/) and I'm unimpressed by the way they wore. The bulk of the tread disappeared very quickly (less than 20k miles). However, they ride nice and had good traction while they had tread. If I had paid cheap-o tire prices for 'em, I wouldn't be too disappointed, but those things were about $50 per tire more than the equivalent BFG A/Ts. I won't ever recommend Michelin to anyone looking to get decent bang for the buck.

Then again, I don't have the torque of the dmax...

I like the cooper atr or ST. they also make the STT if you want muds, but they are pretty soft compared to the ST or the ATR.

Both the ATR and ST do well in winter too, and the ST can be studded. I heard this all first hand from a good friend who sells them for a living. He knows what's good and what's not, especially on diesel trucks. Laramie is crawling with them.

Don't know what size they come in, but I really like my BFG Rugged trails for wear, and snow/wet traction. I bought take-offs, so i don't know what they run new. I have at least 35-40k on mine and still have half the tread left. But I also rotate and leave the tire spinning to the wet or icy roads.

I have Cooper 265/70/17E, I have 28K miles on these tires and they are shot. I would go with the Cooper ATR, Goodyear Silent Armor...they both have a 50K mile warranty.

My Mastercraft courser C/Ts have been great. Aggresive enough for the mud, look good, are quiet and I got 54k out of the last set. If it would have been springtime instead of heading into winter I would have gotten another 2-4k out of them. 50k warranty on them as well...Made by Cooper.

Goodyear Wranglers 235/85/16 at sams club. At 30k on them with half tred. I believe i paid $94 / tire out the door. I have used BFG and Mich. before and never saw any more milage than 40k to 50k. I have even used Super Swampers with same milage but noisy as hell! I'd say find a good price and go with it. If you are a fan of Discount tire, Paul at the 120th and I-25 has made me quite a few excellent deals recently. Would be worth calling and asking him. The new YoKo Geolander seems to be a pretty nice tire. My inlaws got some for thier Taco (they redesigned them) and they are wearing very well.
