Tattoo series...

I started out thinking I would just shoot some neat tats as I found them, but the initial attempt was a bit different...

Many of the photos were taken as a reflection in the mirror to preserve the other folks privacy who were in the shop. There was some amazing work being done...one guy was on hour 15 of his extremely detailed full back work. Said he figured about another 5-10 hours of work left before it was completed but it was a very personal piece so he asked that I not shoot it if I was going to place the images online.

This was a group outing for a birthday tattoo as 5 of my friends all have birthdays this weekend. My turn is next month with 2 other friends.

i love tattoos, though i myself do not have any yet. i find them fascinating. i would love to take pics of peoples tats, in a way the captures the sense of the art. for intense if the tattoo is there as a mark of strength have the person doing something to show that will showing the tat at the same time. if the tattoo is sexy then have the person in a sexy pose, ext... to me that would be really cool!! nice pics by the way, i like them a lot!

That is kind of what I am doing with this series...I am trying to show the tats as art and what they mean to the people who have them.

I have several folks who have agreed to let me shoot their tats. Some don't want their face shown, others want me to tell the story without showing the tat directly (challenging for sure).

It started out as something I have an interest in to shoot and is turning in to a really cool project.

yeah i bet, that sounds really cool. i hope that you get the shots you want, and can make the person who has the tat happy too. definitely post up some pics when you get them, i would love to see.
