Installed a Smarty CR on my truck this weekend. I like it so far. I'd be curious to put it on a Dyno and see what it did to power. Power is significantly smoother, boost is higher and it feels like it pulls harder but, I'm not entirely sure.
Has anyone here mixed one with a Hot Juice? I currently have the #8 Catcher software loaded which has no timing. We tried #9 with timing but, couldn't take enough timing out of the edge to get it to run right. On #8, the truck pulls really hard with the Edge on 4/5. If I go to 5/5, it doesn't feel like it is pulling as hard.
Anyone run this combo and if so, what setting work best for you?
I searched for a few hours on TDR looking for this combo and couldn't find anything.

Let me know what you find out.... I'm chipless at the moment, thinking of doing the Edge Juice w/Attitude, simply for the gauges + turbo timer, but if something's significantly better, then maybe I'll have to go old school....

I like my Edge a lot and have to consider if I am going to keep the Smarty. I like the safety features of the Attitude, which I don't get with the Smarty but, the power is amazingly smoother on the Smarty than the power made by the Edge.

Oddly enough, I smoke less now. The programming in the Smarty clears up much quicker than the Edge does :D I wouldn't worry much yet, in the coming months I am pulling the head off to stud and o-ring it. When it goes back on it will have bigger injectors and a new turbo. Then we should be back in the business of going fast
Your numbers were amazing, I hope I can crack that with the work I am going to do.

Camp, run on the even numbers without timing if you have a timing box (Edge, Bully Dog..etc) or you will grenade your motor. The Edge and Smarty make a great stack. I have a friend in SD that has the same year truck we do, aftermarket turbo, 90 HP injectors, and a few other minor things+ aftermarket trans and put down 675/1500. Enjoy the power...start investing in some tires. I can't seem to keep a set on my truck for more than 28K.

Oh, are you planning on running twins? I was just wondering due to you fire ringing the head. Where are you going to send the head off to?

Twins are definitely still on the table. I am going to put a SPS62 on it for now, which will make a nice first turbo in a set of twins.
As for the head work, I think I will send it to Piers unless I find someone close to do it that has experience with these heads. Would be nice to save the freight on this thing.

2nd that.
Chad, did the Smarty help the off-idle throttle response?

Eric, it really helps down low...just amazing.
Camp, call Rob Watkins over at Performance Car and Truck at 303-278-8038. He sets up, tunes twin setups...and he is in your backyard. There has been people that have towed their trucks from North Carolina to his shop to do injectors and twins. He works on all diesels and cars, but speciallizes in Dodge Diesels. Good choice on the turbo as well.

Cool, I'll give him a call when I get ready. We will be doing all the labor on it but, I do need someone to do the machine work. I'll see what he says when the time comes.

I had the TST on my '04 and it worked great - people rave about stacking the TST with the Smarty. Just my .02.

For now I'm going to run just the Smarty on #9, which is the 170hp with timing setting. The power is smother and also 2-300 degrees cooler on the EGT's than the Hot Juice program. When I get some time, I will load some of the lesser programs from the Smarty and play with all the Juice settings. With the Smarty on #8 and pretty much anything turned on with the Juice, it gets too hot too fast. Pulls hard but, I don't believe I have enough fuel pump and turbo to play with that combo. That will be fixed but, it will be another month or so before I can afford the fuel pump set up.

Sounds like you are having a little fun with it Camp. Careful you don't do what I did....start running short of fuel...this really causes IP and LP to crap out quick...I even took out a FASS 150/150. Might want to check into the ARSON Kit or a dual CP3 line. I pulled my injector nozzles out because of the rail pressure drop.
If you ever want to meet up sometime we can go over what I did to my truck to run the extra fuel...we could meet over at Robs shop so you can meet him and chat about your future mods.
