Pam and I are trying to come up with some games that we both like. She's more into the EQ and WoW type stuff, when I prefer games like Madden, GTA, and BF2. We've tried a couple real time strategy games (C&C, AoE, RoN) and they get kinda boring after a while and become repetitive.
Anybody got any suggestions on games we could try? Newer games probably wouldn't work too well since they would exceed the sys reqs of our laptops, and we only have one desktop PC.

Well apparently our new laptops aren't quite the slouches we thought they were. The video settings are toned a bit (most on medium or low) but they handle BF2 just fine. Some of the newest games certainly wouldn't well though. But for what it is I'm impressed, dual core AMD Athlon, gig of RAM, 256 meg vid card, forget the chipset.

Dude get a Wii...
Yeah we're planning on that too. But Pam isn't exactly the most coordinated person out there so we're trying to come up with something on a level playing field . . . lol.

I'm no help here.. My entire family incuding myself all play eq2 and Lord of the Rings online....=/ I was an avid bf2 and besst chopper pilot in the game, but the bugs and my colorblindness led me to quit that. Everyone looked the same color of brown no matter what..lol So I killed anything that moved good or bad. Needs less to say that leads to hard feelings. So I hacked the account and just raped anything that moved until PB cuaght me and I tossed the discs..

Depends on what common ground you two can meet on. I am an FPS whore, not much into the MMO/RPG's like Pam, but no where near the sports gamer that you are.
I am not really sure your gaming styles will ever meet, honestly... Might be better to jus game at the same time in the same room playing what you both enjoy.

Screw you guys! Tiff if I could cut you off I'd cut you off too. . .
coordinated...i'll give you coordinated. I wouldn't have injured myself last year if my husband hadn't manhandled me and threw me down on the floor. Besides, he's the one that can't walk on ice and ended up in bed for 8 damn weeks with my sorry ass taking care of him.
you all suck. . .
Except for maybe Bill because at least he didn't question my gracefulness. . .yet.

Tabula Rasa isn't too bad of a game. It's only been out since November. Graphics are very good. Well, actually, I don't know yet. I get my new PC from Newegg on Wednesday. I can only play the game on the lowest settings on my PC now.
The game is a futuristic war based game. Aliens blew up Earth, we fight for freedom and life on other planets. So far, It's pretty good. The skill tree is kinda nice. You can clone your character before you advance a skill tree, then you can play both characters on a different skill path, without having to train up another character to get there.
Again, the graphics are, well, you'll probably need to upgrade your PC's.
Eve Online is another good game. The only downer about that game is that all your skills are based on real time. Like takes 4 weeks of real time to fly a Freighter, etc. But, it's a pretty good and fun game. I like the grouping system they have with it. It's a game where you fly spacecraft. If you get to 0.4 space and below, you're in PVP territory. Kinda fun.
If Pam likes EQ and WoW, she will probably like either one of those. If You're interested in Tabula Rasa, let me know. I can give ya some in game starter cash that will help you both out. Right now, they are running a free trial for the game. Same with Eve Online. Tabula Rasa = 3 days, Eve Online = 14 days.
