I'm trying to sell my truck, and I'm curious what you guys/gals think.
Long story short, I need to sell my truck, and I'm having a rough time. Zero calls! I know its a bad time of the year to be selling a vehicle that expensive, but, I figured I'd get one call. My question is: Truck is in awesome condition, and I have an extended warranty on it, and have done some mods.
Would you pay for the extras, on top of blue book, or do I need to just cut my losses, and pay for the extra money to pay of my loan for a truck that I don't own??? I really want to get rid of this truck before my new mortgage payment starts (February 1).
P.S oh yeah its a 06 PSD
TIA and merry X-mas

I buy a new vehicle every year for both my wife and I. And, from my experience I know I really don't make anything back on the mods. Taking them off and selling seperately will also yeild more $ if you do make mods. Same goes with Offroad vehicles, you really only get 50% of the cost back. If you kept the OEM parts for your truck, return it to original and price Between NADA and Kelly Blue Book. I usually take a look at dealerships as well and see what they are trying for. The Dealership will drop $2-4K during the dealing of a used vehicle. An 06 Ford is going to be a tough sale with all the new incentives and financing rates between used and new. So $ attractiveness will be crucial. So I hope that this helps.

Thanks squirrel. The new year is coming, maybe you or your wife want to buy the truck  .
Anyway, the reason I was trying to leave the mods on it is to get as close the payoff on my loan as I can. I need 42k to pay off the loan, but high retail is only 35.6k. Oh well, lesson learned I guess.

Please do not take offense to this at all, but that is a lot of money for a used 06' PSD. You are very upside down on this truck...by almost 10K.
I used to do the same as The Green Squirrel and buy a new truck every year. My wife cured me of that. I lost so much money and I wish that I could have a quarter for every dollar wasted....I would have it made.
Mods are a wash...just take them off and try to sell. Dealerships don't care about it at all. In fact..They would prefer not to have them installed on the vehicles.
I have seen this happen to many people, myself included. I will never be upside down on a truck again in my life. If you can't put down enough money to get the payment you want, and pay it off in 3 years...you can't afford it. That is what my financial advisor told me. Worked pretty good for my truck that I bought. It sucked, I had to save for a few years to put down that kind of money...but it was really nice to have a truck with under 45K miles and payed off.

I'm not offended by your comment, and I know that I'm upside down on it. I guess that I'll just have to bite the bullet and sell it for what its worth. I'll take the lift off, and the programmer, I don't have the stock exhaust for it though, then save them for my next diesel. I love the 6.0 PSD, and the 05-06's are coming down in price so I'll get one next year or so (after I dig myself out of the hole I'm in).
You know what blows, is that the truck I traded in on this one was paid off!!! I took it in the dealership to look at my cracking paint, and while it was in the shop being looked at, one of the vultures (saleman) was flying around as I was waiting, and asked if I wanted to drive one. My bad, every time I drive a brand new truck, I end up buying it (2 rangers, f150, and this one). I have never gotten so screwed on a purchase as I did on this one though.

Yeah, that sucks man. I hope that you can just keep the truck and the house. Good luck.

Thanks! I'll get rid of the truck somehow, before I ever loose the house. I can scrape by with the new payments, but I have some work I want to get done on the 4runner. If I loose the truck I will have 0 issues getting them done by spring time. I'll figure out something.

I talked to my Uncle today, and he advised me that its not cost effective to get rid of it. The reason I'm listening to my Uncle is because he is really good with money and investments, and he has built a very lucrative auto repair business. Its a nice truck, I have a nice house, and I only pay 150 bucks more a month. I thought it was more like 250. I'm guaranteed to make $3 more an hour within 8 months at my job, and that's over a 150 a month, so I'll probably just keep it.
To get rid of it I would have to eat 5-6k, and then turn round and get another truck for 4-5k. Paying the payments, and including the interest on two loans makes it less cost effective to sell the truck. I have 5 years and 8 months until its paid off, and I LOVE the truck.

Yeah, keeping the truck is a good idea. If you keep it in good condition and try to keep the miles off it, it'll someday be worth more than you owe. My truck finally did that around year 4 of a 7 year loan. I hated to do a 7 year loan, but it was the last of the 6spd 7.3's and I couldn't pass it up. Plus I was upside down on my trade-in, which made matter worse. Just ride it out if you can...

It will be easy to keep the miles off of, because I have a company truck :D. I have 16k on it, and I bought it in May of 2006, so I'm doing pretty good. Thanks for the advice you guys.
