I have a cortech mini tank bag, it's map pocket is about 7in wide by like 10 inches long, is there a colorado map book that will fit nicely in it? or do people usually use flat maps and just fold them?

I was up in Steamboat a couple of years ago and picked up a laminated CO flat map...
Up to date, works great and indestructible.
If all you need are major roads, I wouldn't waste my time with anything more.

Do you have a scanner and a color printer? If so, I'd just scan in the maps you want to use, trim them to fit, and take them. Plus you can toss them when you're done.

I doctored a screen grab from mapquest for my front range map (boulder, ft-collins estes park area) but it's not near detailed enough, nor is my old lazer printer capable of making a detailed map...

Hmmm...well, if you're mainly riding in CO, you could just stop by someplace that has those free tourist maps and grab a handful. Trim or fold as needed...
A scanner can be handy, though. With a scanner and a decent color printer you can make your own maps for cheap.
