Anybody ever rent a satellite phone?

For elk hunting season this year we're thinking of renting a satellite phone. Anybody ever rent one? What kind/brand is best? Any particular place to rent one better than another? Advice?

My folks do it a few times a year. They are in the Camen(sp?) islands right now with one. They get back in a couple days.. I will ping my folks and post up what they tell me.

Steve, when I was with American Soda, we had 2 of them for the Piance Creek area. They are pricey, but make good sense to have when you need em. Seems like when we priced renting them it was around 40 bucks a week with a certain amount of minutes. We decided to purchase 2 of them and the plans were somewhere around 100/month for a limited number of minutes. Seems like it was 60 minutes or somewhere around there.

I'm not too worried about cost for a week. We want one because of where we are with no cell service and with enough snow no way to get out except by horse and with one guy getting up in years (no, not me :flipoff2: ) we figure a sat phone would be good to have. Like cell phones there appears to be several different brands/kinds, and I have no clue which ones are good or not. :shrug:
