Read a favorable review of the Pentax K10D in this month's Pro Digital Imaging magazine. Looks intriguing, as it has a weatherproof housing. Seems like that could be useful in this state...

When I was at Wolf Camera I looked it over and it's a heavy one. weighing 1.7lbs or 793g.

Dpreview has also done a review on this camera. They loved the camera except the image quality wasn't up to their standards.

I will stick with Canon, Nikon and Olympus. They sell weatherproofing protection for just about any camera body these days.

Thought I posted this, but I guess not.

I own the slower, cheaper, no IS K110d. Since I picked up a couple lenses to compliment/replace the 18-55 kit lens, I like it a lot. When I break down and get an external flash, I'll love it.

The pentax lenses have a cult following. There are a few people out there who claim to be able to tell pictures that were taken through pentax glass.

Speaking of pentax glass, there are a couple decades worth of used lenses that will work with the new K line of camera bodies. Sigma and others also have several lenses, flashes, and other stuff available.

I say go for it.
