I skipped a lot but did he ever turn? I think if you are gonna run from the cops the ability to maneuver and turn corners at high speeds is key. What a Dumb@ss.

I bet he was hurt some but nothing serious. With all that adrenaline (other substances?) that idiot could have run through fire and not felt it. But I bet he felt it later.
Stupid hurts.

While the first 4 or 5 bumps from the cop should have been enough. It actually looks like he WAS stopping when the cop hit him the last time. While I think what he did was ****ing retarded, and he is lucky he didn't get hit running all those red lights. The force that cop hit him with looks a little excessive. Not to mention the death threats when he has him in cuffs.

I'm amazed the guy didn't kill himself or someone else. I quit trying to count how many red lights he flew through. Can you imagine getting hit by that hog at Ludicris Speed. How about having him go through the side window of your car when you've got your kids with you.
Cop done good!

I saw three or four near-collisions because the guy kept hitting his brakes suddenly. Then I saw a bump that knocked out the guy's tail light cover and finally the one that knocked him down.
Memo #4: If you're in a high-speed chase with a cop close on your tail, don't slam on your brakes. :D

If you listen to the dispatcher at the start this guy is wanted in connection with an earlier crime involving gun violence. The threats the officer yells at the guy are BEFORE being cuffed and they are trying to find his gun.
Proably pretty appropriate.

Man it must be nerve racking for cops going through so many reds at those speeds! The camera made it look like 60+ through some of those lights. I would feel horrible if I hit someone.
The guy was a complete idiot for trying to run from the cop and should thank the cop for stopping him before he killed someone or lost his own life!

Knowing that he had prior issues the cop may have been justified. If not the cop was in the wrong putting MANY of the public in danger by chasing the guy. I was actually more mad at the cop.

You are correct, when running from the police on a motorcycle manuverability is your friend. This guy should have gotten into the turns. It would have increased his chances.

I was amazed too. I will give both him and the officer credit for being great driverrs. I consider myself a pretty damn good bike rider, and I don't know if I could recover from being hit 2 times in the rear. As a side note, It looked to me like the first couple of bumps the cop was trying to get the guy down without causing too much death to the rider. I give him credit for that. When that didn't work... He played a little rougher...

I never have and never will understand this mentality. If the police officer hits someone in the pursuit of this asshat, it is not the officers fault. He is doing his job by getting a dangerous criminal (you become a dangerous criminal as soon as you start the high speed chase) off the streets.
I have said it before... We need to develop more lethal ways of stopping people who run. I think miniguns on helos would be a good start.

Bud, I don't give a rats ass about the badguy. It's the people the bad guy hit or the copper hits 'cause he can't drive. It's all ended well thought. Too bad he did not shoot the guy in the face.

That is the whole issue with chases. This guy was involved in some level of gun violence prior to the chase. Meaning that if he was let go into society he would likely cause more harm. This was illustrated by him running like he did.
What kind of message are we sending to criminals if we don't chase gun toting wanted parties simply because they run? If we did that they would all just get guns and run from the cops and have no problems with their crime spree at all.

Those were not "death threats" they were facts. That cop's life was in immediate danger from a criminal who had just led him on a high speed chase and who was believed to have a gun on him. That is why the cop had his gun drawn. In that situation, you want to be extremely and explicitly clear.
"Do not move or I will blow your f***ing head off" sends a pretty clear message that any move by the douchebag will be viewed as possibly going for the gun. When you have a gun drawn and your life is in peril that is NOT the time to use your inside voice.

I retract my statement about the cop threatening him at the end. I couldn't really listen to the video so I didn't know about the prior issues with this guy.
And I am in no way condoning what the guy was doing with running, just trying to look at it objectively

Wait a minute, that's the first time in a long time a cop is doing ACTUAL COP WORK chasing a real criminal and they fire him? Jefferson County runs about 15 cars or more in the Evergreen/Conifer area at any given time and they drive around running plates in parking lots but they still have a job? That officer was actually doing what they are SUPPOSED to do! Getting a dangerous person off the streets. What a sad thing they'd fire him for that. What do they want? A bunch of sniveling little wuss cops that won't cuss or call names when someone potentially ALMOST hurt what could have been a LOT of people by running from the cops with a history of violence, wanted for a gun charge? After a chase like that nobody with any balls would say "Please put your hands behind your back and if you don't mind just still, if that's ok with you." That guy deserved to have his ass kicked, and I'd say there are a lot of law enforcement officers out there that would have been way less cool than he was. If I was a cop and I was in that position I would have nailed that guy with the tazer instantly, maybe even have just shot him in the leg. Good find.

That is a complete crock of crap. The LEO gets verbally abused by an irate law breaker, he handles it with professional and poise, and he gets fired. I think I would find the little bastard in the SUV and either sue his ass off, or beat the living piss out of him...

Yea, the video I posted. The guy tapping the motorcycle guy was in the right since dude had a prior assualt and possible weapon. As for the guy in the SUV on my video. Well, unfortunatly there were about a million ways for that officer to be able to talk the guy down and get him to calm down. the officer used a tone that made the guy keep blowing up. Sarcastic to say the least.

Oh no, the Officer was sarcastic... Poor guy in the SUV... I hope he did not get his feelings hurt... In the world I come from you treat an officer like that, you are going to be laying on the ground in a world of hurt, and you will be really late to where you are getting because you will be booked into the jail for a while...

Oh it does work that way outside... Try that shit on a MO troop G Trooper. Or better yet, go down to alabama or TX and try it on one of those troopers who wears mirrored sunglasses with the mirrors on the inside... Se how he takes the time to sooth and calm you down... See earlier post about Tazer, the ground, billy clubs, and jail...

I don't get it. I have yet to run into one of these 'asshole' cops that everyone is complaining about.
I've been involved in waaaaaaaaay too many traffic stops for my own good. I even got stopped once when I hadn't done anything wrong other than having a brake light burned out. I've found officers to be polite, knowlegable, and fair.
I've dealt with officers on other issues as well. They are understanding, helpful, and in the case of my son's medical emergency (feberal seizures) the deputy that responded first became my son's new best friend - my son still has the teddy bear with the badge sitting on his bed 5 years later.
I'm sure that there are jerks with badges on out there. I have yet to find 'em.
BTW, I LIKE the fact that there are 15 LEOs in the Evergreen/Conifer area. The fact that the most they have to deal with is running plates and chasing down traffic offenders goes a long way towards proving their efficiency at keeping the peace.

Me too. I used to be a world class speeder back when I had to drive a lot across West Texas. I got stopped so many times by DPS (state) cops I should have lost my license. And I would have too except my license was from Oklahoma and in those days TX didn't report to OK. So it was all about the fine money (which wasn't unreasonable in those days).
But the thing is: I understood that I was breaking the very laws those guys were enforcing. I didn't complain. In fact, I usually had an "OK, fair play to you. You got me this time" attitude. Not glib or smart-assy, just respectful and businesslike. Never had a problem other than a couple lectures and numerous citations. And I got over the speeding thing; that's why I now drive a Jeep. :D
I think where people get into trouble is when they start acting like they didn't do anything illegal and start talking chit to the cops or - even worse - running from the cops.
Now I have kinda run from the cops when I suspect they saw me but I'm not sure. But if the lights come on behind me, I'm pulling over every time.
Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

The first video was very justifiable. Glad he knocked that idiot off his bike.
The second video was labeled "patient cop" by another posting. That describes it well. If he got fired for that then the dept he worked for just wants wimps for cops. In fact that guy was lucky the cop didn't see the first grabbing as an attack and thumped his a$$.
FYI any more, most dept don't want cops to go out and catch bad guys. They won't say it or put it into policy but they do plenty to discourage "real" police work.
